Parody Song Title:

"Chevrolets and Hyundais"

Parody Written by:

Porfle Popnecker

The Lyrics

Walkin' by myself, I'm so exposed
Sometimes I have to flee
Don't know why they're after me
Dodgin' around
Jumpin' at every sound
Chevrolets and Hyundais always run me down

Why all this abuse, I'm so confused
Nothin' that I deserve
Squealin' tires at every curve
Dartin' around
Once more I have been found
Chevrolets and Hyundais always run me down

Could it be someone that I was slow in payment to
Has he tired of tryin' to bill me

Could it be the guy that I cut off outside the zoo
Has he hired a gang to kill me (a gang to kill me)

I'm afraid to step outside my door
Take out is all I eat (all I eat)
I'm not goin' near the street
Lurkin' around (lurkin' around)
Kickin' it underground
Chevrolets and Hyundais always run me down

Bunny is afraid to visit me on Easter, too
No more colored eggs to thrill me

What I need is someone trained to kill
Giving 'em hell instead (hell instead)
Fightin' back with blazing lead
Taking 'em down (taking 'em down)
Firin' from higher ground
Chevrolets and Hyundais always run me down

Taking 'em down (taking 'em down)
Carnage all over town
Chevrolets and Hyundais always run
Me down

Remove "penter" from the group's name and you get "Cars."

As a Chevy man I can identify with this parody as my Camaros were always running people and cars off the road! 555! Btw, a lot of non-Chevy people still think that the emblem is some sort of cross. It's not- it is a bowtie. My '77 Camaro was "Bad Bowtie". As for Hyundai, I still remember that odd door chime of the 1980s- both my brother and sister owned them.

JB--and the Ford "Penter" (as the Pinto was colloquially known) tended to explode! Rob--actually, I don't think I've ever even seen a Hyundai. But I like Camaros.

You aren't missing anything! I asked my mom for a 10-speed bike when I was 11 and was expecting something decent. My mom bought me a Kia from Best. At the time I thought "what the hell kind of name is that?"!!! Mom was always doing crazy things like that. Another time she told me to look in the garage b/c my new Yamaha was there. I was expecting a 125cc dirtbike and instead it was a crummy skatebord that was yellow with red Poly-U wheels! I flipped out.

I only rode banana bikes as a kid so I never even had a 10-speed. My only skateboard was one of the original basic wooden ones with actual skate wheels. We called them "sidewalk surfers."

Porfle, you seem to have acquired a critic today. Can't recall you ever getting unabombed before

Ever seen a VERY cheapo film about an evil violent car - called "The Car", it's from the mid 70's? How about the evil semi truck "cousin" to KITT in "Night Rider" - Goliath? How about Stephen King's "Christine" in the 80's? Your parody is very good.

Lennie--I've been unabombed several times but as in this case it's usually someone who shows up and hands out 1's indiscriminately to most or all of that day's parodists. Somebody's idea of fun, I guess! BHR--Thanks! I remember when "The Car" came out but I never saw it. I did catch "Christine" at the theater after having also read the book.

Porfle, I met director John Carpenter at the Burbank Studios as a +1 with a USC film student who was becoming a production intern (Mark Steensland who is in the credits for Mannequin 1 or 2). I saw the rough cut of the film in 1984 and toured USC as well. A fun time. Mr. Carpenter was laid-back in jeans and boots kicked up front. Briefly met him. A cool guy. Felt weird sitting among the studio Execs! Slept overnight the day before and scored with a USC gal. One of my better times in life. I met Traci Lords before the sex scandal broke out and once had a color pic of her spreading herself. I threw it away in 1988 and it was worth $3000 black marker. No way I could take a chance with child porn so it got tossed out. Back in 1985, however, I met a girl at a Carl's Jr. named Lori Baser that looked just like her and I took her to Madonna's Virgin Tour in SF where the Beatie Boys opened for her. I didn't score with Lori but got a goodnight kiss. Still, I remember that night and always will. Ah, the good old days :)

That certainly beats out me shaking hands with James Doohan!

Pretty good work, I've always loved the OS. I have had people try to run me over with Chevrolets or Hyundais, many other things too, for not walking through crosswalks fast enough for them. I cannot run or walk fast, but have to walk slowly instead, due to bad joints. I even got forcibly knocked down, stepped on and harassed about my weight (he thought I should be like Paris Hilton instead of around 170 pounds) by a homeless person once, because I wouldn't move fast enough. 5s.

Thanks! I think Paris Hilton looks like a scarecrow.

Another hilarious track from you. Thom Yorke should sing this, since he has already written and performed a song called "Killer Cars".

Thanks! It's always nice to see an older parody still being read.
