The Lyrics

The 70's are gone, people. Get over it. The same thing happened in the 60's with garage rock as it has with pop-punk in the past decade. It was just as corny and unoriginal, but dammit, it was still fun. Although Avril is still a tool. The line about Joe Strummer is real. I got it from an article in Guitar World. Someone approached him about possibly working with Sum41 and they asked him if he'd heard of them. "Heard of them?" said Joe, "I probably know their riffs better than they do!" And then he died. I don't think Sum41 had anything to do with it, though.
I don't wanna listen to anything by Good Charlotte
And Avril is a fake little punk poser harlot
Surely New Found Glory was sent by the Devil
Oh, and have I mentioned that I hate f**kin' Avril?
Then Sum41 sounds the same as Blink
And lots of people like them, which means they stink
All this petty bitching is beginning to grate
Listen up because I want to set the record straight

So don't complain
That music isn't the same
As it was three decades ago
Just shut your mouth
They're not killing the genre
Cashing in, or selling their souls

It's okay to idolize the Ramones and Clash
It's dumb to hate a band because they're makin' cash
Bring down your nose and try to have some fun
Even Joe Strummer liked Sum41

So don't complain
You're gonna drive me insane
Not all bands can be Minor Threat
Please get a life
Gone is Operation Ivy
Simple Plan is all that you get
Oh no!

(Badazz Guitar Solo)

If you wanna shut your mouth, try to think for a second
There's still a couple bands that you might be forgettin'
NOFX, Lagwagon, Rancid and some others
Long as they're around then punk can never be over

You only like songs from a time that is gone
Remember that the best are as flawed as all the rest
Recall if you please that time in 1980
Slack-jawed, saying "duh" when you heard "Sandanista!"
Slack-jawed, saying "duh" when you heard "Sandanista!"

I don't wanna hear a word from the snooty punk naysayers
Or what they have spinning in their CD players
So if you wanna tell me my taste is psychotic
I'll take Sid's advice and never mind the bollocks.

Pop-punk, don't be a mocker!
Pop-punk, don't be a mocker!
Pop-punk, don't be a mocker!
(Fade Out)
Don't forget to pick up Joe Strummer's posthumous album with the Mescaleros: "Streetcore"
