The Lyrics

(long instrumental opening)

On the Capital Beltway
cool gel in my hair
warm smell of big cheaters
rising up through the air
up ahead in the distance
I saw the Capitol dome.
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim.
I knew I must be at home.

As she stood in the doorway
Nancy Pelosi looked well.
Her Speakership could be heaven.
Republicans will tell us it's hell.
Then she lit up a candle
and she showed me the way.
Lobbyists in the corridor.
Thought I heard them say...

"Welcome to the Hotel Washingtonia!
Such a lovely place!
(Such a lovely place!)
Republican disgrace!
Plenty of seats in the Hotel Washingtonia!
In election year
(in election year)
play to hope and fear!"

Republicans, they're so twisted.
Truth each one of them bends!
Unh!
They've got a lot of pretty, pretty boys.
Pages or "friends"?
How they vote in the House or
sweet old Senate?
Some votes we remember
would like to forget!

So I called Paul Begala:
Is our country fine?
He said, "We once had that spirit here
in 1999!"
And still those voices were calling
from far... away.
Wake you up in the middle of the night
from Arlington, they say:
Hey!

"Welcome to the Hotel Washingtonia!
Such a lovely place!
(Such a lovely place!)
Republican disgrace!
They dishonor ust here at Hotel Washingtonia!
Because of how Bush lied
(because of how Bush lied)
some new men here who've died!"

Mirrors ain't reflecting.
Tom DeLay wasn't nice.
And I said, "We are all just prisoners here
of the right-wing lies."

And inside pages' chambers
Mark Foley tried to feast.
It stabs into their steely nerves
so they just go blame a priest!

Last thing I remembered
I was running for the door.
I yelled, "Why didn't this country vote
Democrat in 2004?"
"Relax!" said the right man.
"We are programmed to deceive!
You can check out any time you like
but now's the time I must leave!"

(taking turns on the closing guitar solos:
James "Serpenthead" Carville
Michael "Fatboy Slim" Moore
and Keith "Richards" Olbermann...
with John Kerry on bass guitar
Barack Obama on organ
Chuck Schumer on drums
Bill Clinton on saxophone
and Al Gore sitting it out
'cause you know how Tipper feels
about rock and roll!)

Does Hotel Washingtonia actually exist or did you alter the spelling of Washington to fit the pacing? Nevertheless I liked this so I'll give you 555.

Prepare to be corn-holed, kids. The party of NAMBLA Nancy and Gay Gerry is back.

Jason: As far as I know, there is no actual hotel called the Washingtonia, or even the Washingtonian. But it was either than or "Hotel Col-um-bi-a" (as in "District of...") Yerdy: Yes, it is distoibing (if youse don't mind me falling into Brooklynese). GLSEN: One more time, so it gets into your thick skull: Mark Foley is a Republican who has claimed to fight for Christian values, and to fight for exploited children. (Actually, he HAS been fighting for exploited children. He's the one doing the exploiting!) THEY are the Party that has proven that they cannot be trusted on morals issues. Especially since poverty is a morals issue, and the Democrats have a HUGE edge there.

Alright, I'm niether Republican or Democrat. To be frank, The Republicans are actually doing something. However, the Democrats just complain, when one of them actually comes up with a good idea, fine, but until then, they have no right to complain. I Didn't really like this thing all that much and I really disliked the funnyness of it, I didn't find it funny one bit, however, I will say that it did stick to the pace a bit. Now, as for Foyley, yea, he sucks and should be put in jail. Now, Not all Republicans have Moral issues, actually, it's the Decocrats who have the Issues, they Support Abortions, as for gay marrige, it's none of anybodies Buesness but the couple who wants to get married, so, let 'em. Now, Morally, Republicans are far more Superior than the Democrats. Now, if you will, don't be harrassing other Republicans for something a horrible 'Man' did. You don't define him as a republican for that, would you define Charlie manson as a...whatever he is? No you wouldn't.
Michael Pacholek - November 02, 2006 - Report this comment
The Republicans would define Manson as a wimp. Or a beginner. Seems the clock has struck "Midnight" for the Republicans, and their coach has turned into a pumpkin. Except, morally speaking, THEY are "the ugly stepsisters." (Okay, I admit it, Nancy Pelosi's Rodney Dangerfield eyes do freak me out a little, but I'd rather have her than Denny "oblivious lump of mashed potatoes" Hastert in the Speaker's chair!)
