The Lyrics

If you’re playing blackjack with an advantage you’ll come out ahead over time. You have to trust the math and you will win, in the long run. Definitions: Voodoo: playing hunches instead of the correct strategy. Fluctuation: the inevitable negative swings of the game. ‘roll: your bankroll, total amount of cash you have to play the game. Bosses: pit bosses, responsible for spotting card counters. Backing offs: barring a suspected card counter from playing blackjack in their casino. Count: the system a player uses to count cards. Dealer’s stiff: no, not that! A dealer total between 12-16 must take a card and could cause him to go over 21. Breakin’: Or busting. When a player or dealer hand goes over a total of 21.
The Long Run

You like to ramble a lot,
you like to gamble a lot,
you like to stay out till the break of day.
Man, that just won't get it,
Think it’s high time to quit it,
‘cause you’re losin’ all your money that way.
Oh you took big losses, I know it's true.
Don’t you know you just can’t win,
when you play voodoo?

Who can win at Blackjack?
We'll find out, in the long run.
(in the long run)
We can handle fluctuation,
if our ‘roll is a large one.
(is a large one)
Bosses talkin' about us,
they got nothin' else to do.
When the chips go down,
we will still come through.
In the long run.
Oh, I want to tell you, it's a long run.

You know I don't understand,
why they don't treat us all better,
do the crazy things that they do.
'Cause all the backing offs in Vegas, baby
only hurt their business, it’s true.
Do they do it for kicks?
Do they do it for money?
Do they do it for spite?
Do they know they look that funny?

Who is gonna make it?
We'll find out, in the long run.
(in the long run)
I know we can take it,
if our count is a strong one.
(is a strong one)
Well, we're down, but we ain't shakin'.
Dealer’s stiff and now he’s breakin'.

In the long run.
Man, I want to tell you, it's a long run.
In the long run, oh yeah yeah.
In the long run.
Gonna find out, yeah we’re gonna find out.
In the long run.
