The Lyrics

This appears to be the first parody of the baseball film "The Sandlot" on the site.
(instrumental opening)

On a dark desert highway
wind brushes my hair.
San Fernando's the Valley.
Mom and Bill moved me there.
Up around a few corners
I saw some outdrifting dust.
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim.
Learn to play ball, I must.

As I stood out in right field
I couldn't catch the balls.
The big fat kid behind the plate
kept saying, "You're killin' me, Smalls!"
Benny jogged on out to me
and he showed me the way
From that point on, all summer long
I knew I could play.

Welcome to the Sandlot, California.
Such a lovely place.
(Such a lovely place.)
Come and take your base.
Plenty of games at the Sandlot, California.
Any time of year
(Any time of year)
you can play it here.

Wendy Peffercorn's sexy.
She gives my hormones the bends.
She's got a lot of sloppy, sloppy boys.
Won't call them "friends."
How we chewed the tobacco.
On the ride we'd get.
How well I remember:
Something we would regret!

So I called the bartender:
"Please bring me some wine."
He said
"You can't buy that spirit here
'til 1969."
Like Willie Mays, we'll hit the ball
so far away.
Fireworks on July 4th night.
You can hear us "Say Hey!"

Welcome to the Sandlot, California.
Such a lovely place.
(Such a lovely place.)
Come and take your base.
Got a new ball for the Sandlot, California.
It was signed by Ruth!
(It was signed by Ruth?)
We're both dead, that's the truth!

Hit it into the junkyard.
My life will be on ice.
And I said,
"I will be a prisoner here
of my stepdad's device."

But if my stepdad is angry
of my problems, that's the least:
I hit the ball o'er the wooden fence
and it got ate by the Beast!

Last thing I remembered
Benny jumped o'er the fence.
With Mr. Myrtle and my stepdad
we would have to make amends.

Relax, of this great film
two sequels you'll receive.
You can shutout any time you like
but you just gotta believe!

(long instrumental close)
Tom Guiry, who played Scotty Smalls, is still acting, his biggest role (aside from "The Sandlot") being "Mystic River." Also still acting are Patrick Renna (the Great Hambino), Chauncey Leopardi (Squints), Brandon Adams (Nunez), and Marley Shelton (Wendy Peffercorn, who was recently in "Scream 4"). Mike Vitar, who played Benny "the Jet" Rodriguez, is now a firefighter in Los Angeles. The rest, I can't seem to find out about.
