The Lyrics

I know you people know the original song for this one so maybe i can get some votes
On a dark chocolate sign with Cool Whip as the words
I happened to read what, seemed to be quite absurd
One of my secret wishes, could be done on that site
I felt so hungry and the rooms were food
I had to stop for a bite
As I got to the doorway
I felt fear in my skull
I was thinking of the tale
Of the boy Hansel and the girl Gretel
But the drifting aroma, made me choose to go in
I was greeted by a chubby man, who had like 13 chins:

Welcome to the Hotel Jelly Donut
Such a lovely place (you can stuff your face)
Plenty of food at the Hotel Jelly Donut
But go somewhere else, if you're into health

The mattress is made of sponge cake, so it is a flour bed
But they made it so cold it's frozen to, support my head
All the rest but the floor is, warm and quite sweet
Most times I ate to live, there I lived to eat
So I crashed after snackin', teeth stained chocolate brown
And now, I can't imagine how I kept all of that junk food down
That night my dreams were appalling to say the least
I dreamt the staff was filling me to make
Me a bigger feast

Sweating at the Hotel Jelly Donut
In uneasy sleep, I burnt calories
Thought they'd eat me up at the Hotel Jelly Donut
But fortunately, it was just a dream

Morning came with feelings, of being quite hungry
And because, everything was edible there, didn't check to see
What it was I put in the, thing that is called my mouth
From that binge and the one at night, well I must have gained 10 pounds
It came time to check out, I was feeling pretty ill
Went downstairs to the chubby man, and he give me a big bill
I had to pay ninety, dollars for the normal fee
Along with a hundred dollar fine, because I ate the keys

I was greeted by a chubby man, who had like 13 chins: Great line. ROFL This guy has more chins than a Beijing phone book.

Beautifully surreal, TD: I gave it 5's if only for the "flour bed" pun ;-)
Billy Florio - June 09, 2003 - Report this comment
Tone-def, you better get votes for this....and they better be all 5's...this is excellent! The last lines there were great.......

What does 5 x 5 x 5 make? A perfect score

Very funny! I did struggle with the pacing in a couple places, but they were minor (or I have the original wrong in my head).
Claude Prez - June 09, 2003 - Report this comment
"Hotel....California", you say? Hmmm...."Camptown Ladies"....Nope. Doesn't ring a bell. Just kidding. Great job. You ever been on a cruise?

Very good!! I like this a lot-and now I'm hungry.(Not kidding,I really am now.) Spongecake! Yum! I give 5's on (well pacing, etc. of course)-but besides that, skill, talent, etc. are equally important. You've got a great parody here. So,I'm giving you these 5's cause this is awesome! TC - :-D

If i may make some pre-contest changes, "i felt fear in my skull" should be "fear is what I felt". And "sponge cake" should be "biscuits"

I don't know how I missed this one, being a big fan (and getting bigger, sadly) of food/overeating parodies, but a five-course meal for you.
Red Ant - June 20, 2005 - Report this comment
(ABC05) *shakes head*. How did I wipe votes on this as well? Pacholek implied he gave you fives ONE DAY AGO. I guess I'm still in the dark on this entire vote wipe thing that happened last year. Anyway, 455, excellent but a few too many stresses on wrong syllables to get a five-fecta from me. Also, too many good lines to quote individually.

(ABC05) Pace problems, but a good idea well thought out nonetheless. Clever punchline.
Adagio - June 22, 2005 - Report this comment
(ABC05) So cute, especially the ending ..."because I ate the keys." 5's
Johnny D - June 28, 2005 - Report this comment
(ABC) The brilliance starts with the title "Hotel Jelly Donut" (great comic rhyming with the OS's title) and gets sweeter from there. Well done, Ethan.
Rick C - June 28, 2005 - Report this comment
(ABC05)Good twist on the OS.

(ABC-H) Very vivid, Ethan.

(ABC) Great song, even if the only version of the original I know is Cledus T Judd's parody.
Jeff Reuben - July 05, 2005 - Report this comment
Cledus did a version?
Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) - July 05, 2005 - Report this comment
I was wobbling with mirth. Nice rhyming.

ABC--I stumbled on pacing a bit...but this was still funny. Nice imagery...
2nz - July 06, 2005 - Report this comment
Like some others have said, very vivid. And great use of the original plus some really funny couplets, but my highlights include the 'in/chins' couplet and the 'fee/keys' couplet. Tasty, Ethan.
