Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Babe. Bucky. Buckner. Boone. Boston. Boo-hoo. Bye-bye!
Boston fans seem to find out early
how to face the scores without a smile.
A rich old man, he runs the Yanks, he's surly.
He'll wear a turtleneck and cramp your style.

Every year, old Fenway Park gets lonely.
I guess even love of baseball has its price.
And it breaks your heart to think your team is only
going home when early morning's cold as ice.

So you tell yourself you're gonna win this evening
and comfort all your friends who're feeling down.
But you know this, you shouldn't be believing.
You are headed for a fall in Pinstripe Town.

You can't hide your lionize.
And your smile soon will vaporize.
I thought be now you'd realize
there ain't no sense within your lionize.

On the Outbound Green Line train the boys are waiting
with fiery eyes and dreams you think umps steal.
They ride on to the Park, Yankees, they're hating
'cause it makes 'em feel the way they love to feel.

They rush down Brookline Avenue together.
A World Series they ain't won for a while.
The Babe was sold, and now they're Cursed forever.
A swing away, and now the Yankees smile.

You can't hide your lionize.
And your smile soon will vaporize.
I thought be now you'd realize
there ain't no sense within your lionize.

She gets up and thinks about her Nomar
and stares out at the stars up in the sky.
Another year the Yanks get their big homer.
She knows another year she's gonna cry.

She wonders how the Yankees got so lucky.
She thinks about her love for Captain Carl.
Did she get tired, or did the Sox get sucky?
She's so far-gone, and she begins to snarl.

My, oh, my, you sure thought Pedro would change things.
You thought he'd scare the Yankees 'cause he's mean.
Ain't it funny how you still lose 'cause of strange things.
You still ain't won it since nineteen eighteen.

And you can't hide your lionize.
And your smile soon will vaporize.
I thought be now you'd realize
there ain't no sense within your lionize.
There ain't no sense within your lionize.
Honey, why these bums you lionize?

Good one, Michael

I don't think "lionize" is a noun, so this doesn't make any sense since it would be gramatically incorrect. What I'm tryin' to say over here is, I don't get it.

Maybe "sk12er boi" is the guy we've all tried to parody. I turned a verb into a noun? I must confess, turning nouns and adjectives into verbs is one of my major pet peeves. Unless you're appearing on "Will & Grace," you're shopping for antiques, not "going antiquing"!

"Going antiquing!" I have to remember that one!

"Going antiquing' is a valid term. I've heard it used by many antique collecters, myself included.

Antiquing is definitely a valid verb, and popular in usage.. lots of nouns get converted into verbs... what's the big deal yo?

Yeah, I know that it's gramatically correct; in fact, I just looked up antique in my f***in' Wagnalls and antique as a verb had two definitions, the second of which was "to shop around for antiques." So I apologize for laughing at the phrase. It's just that at first "going antiquing" didn't make any sense to me; now I'm convinced that it is a perfectly legitimate phrase. So, feel free to report my above comment as inappropriate.

Just replace "lionize" with "line of guys," or better yet, "lineup, guys" or even "nine odd guys." Grammatical problem solved. Michael, you are the King of The Diamond and this parody proves it. Five MVP's. I'll be in New Yawk in oily April. Want to hook up for a beer? d;:^)

You could tell Chucky to remove it, and explain to him why you want it deleted, since you are the author of it.

I suppose you're right, Aggy. At the time this parody was written, it made sense, so...you make a good point.
