The Lyrics

Creedence Clearwater Revival had five songs hit Number 2 on the pop music charts: "Green River," "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising" (a song heard frequently in November and December 2000), "Who'll Stop the Rain" (a song heard frequently since January 2001) and "Lookin' Out My Back Door." But they never hit Number 1. In 1972, the Hollies came out with a song that sounded a lot like a CCR song, and that one also got to Number 2, but not 1. This is a tribute (sort of) to "Birds of Prey," the WB Network's interesting but ultimately poorly-written and soon cancelled fantasy show, a.k.a. "Gotham City: The Next Generation."
(guitar opening)

Last Thursday night I was back home
watchin' on the WB.
The show said we don't have no Batman
he took off right into the sky.

Oracle's watchin' 'oer the West Side
pickin' up some guys doin' wrong.
She signals this chick called the Huntress
who's been carrying a secret along.

A pair of .45s triggers Huntress's eyes.
Her feline blood has started to rise.
She was a long cool woman in a bat dress
and she's facing an order so tall.
Within ten seconds that big bad mess
well, that long cool woman fixed it all.

(guitar break -- Whoo!)

I heard somebody spreading a rumor
she was the daughter of the burglaring Cat.
And I asked her, "Helena, who's your Daddy, now?"
Well, she wouldn't admit that it's the Bat.

Well then suddenly we heard the sirens
the New Gotham P.D. hits the scene.
Black Canary and Oracle arrivin'
to take on Joker's little girl, she's so mean.

The remote control sits in my left hand
and a can of Pepsi sits in my right.
And I look for the show, but it's cancelled, you know
The studio's not forgiving.
That girl's not making her living
as a long cool woman in a bat dress
but she'll soon get a new casting call.
I'd like to get her on mattress
'cause that long cool woman has it aw-awwwwllll...
has it aw-awwwwllll...
has it aw-awwwwllll...
has it all!
has it all!
has it all!
Whoooo...
has it all!

Ashley Scott, who played the Huntress in "Birds of Prey," will soon premiere in "Trespassing," a horror flick set on the outskirts of New Orleans, with "Planet of the Apes" babe Estella Warren. She will also appear in the film version of the 1970s cop drama "S.W.A.T." with Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, Michelle Rodriguez, L.L. Cool J., Josh Charles and Olivier Martinez. She's now filming a new version of "Walking Tall," with Dwyane "the Rock" Johnson playing famed Tennessee Sheriff Buford Pusser, played in a movie by Joe Don Baker and in two movies and a TV show by Bo Svenson -- but the plot is moved to Washington State, and I'm presuming The Rock doesn't die. Dina Meyer (Oracle) and Rachel Skarsten (Black Canary) also continue to act, and well.

I thought this original tune sounded like the Bee Gees, and nothing like CCR. Good Job with your parody.

Listen to "Green River," Wild Man, and then "Long Cool Woman," and you'll hear the CCR similarity. The closest the Bee Gees ever came to rocking that hard was "Jive Talkin'." And, as Dick Smothers would say, That was not a compliment.

CCR never hit #1 with "Have you ever seen the rain"? Wow....anyway, Listen to the Bee Gees first album "Bee Gee's 1st", and youll hear some CCR sounding stuff on there as well....the early Bee Gees were pretty damn good....

As an avid CCR fan , sorry, there is no comparison. This Hollies tune is POP music, and a good one at that. More in the catagory or genre of the Bee Gees, than of CCR. CCR is ROCK music plain & simple. I still don't think "Long Cool Woman" sounds anything like CCR, but that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about that ,yeah! We all have em, Man
