"Clocked On A One Way Street"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I was clocked on a one way street while driving ninety miles per hour,
Clocked on a one way street while driving ninety miles per hour.

The cop thought I was high, as he did scold, for why did I drive?
Too drunk to walk, that's why, uh oh.

His lips were firmly saying, some fines you will be paying, Whad I do?
He quoted the regulation, that deals with moving violation,
Then chewed me out.

His radar gun did find, ninety miles an hour my speed did climb,
You were fooled I did explain, sure the judge will rule,
It's the time that's lame, ain't been out an hour as you proclaim.

His lips were firmly saying, some fines you will be paying, Whad I do?
He quoted the regulation, that deals with moving violation,
Then chewed me out.

I was clocked on a one way street while driving ninety miles per hour,
Clocked on a one way street while driving ninety miles per hour.

The cop thought I was high, as he did scold, for why did I drive?
Too drunk to walk, that's why, uh oh.

I haven't seen many late-'60s & early '70s soul songs being parodied. You picked a really good one. I hope there are other folks who appreciate the genre. A couple other good ones for you would be "Color Him Father" (The Winstons) and "Patches" (Clarence Carter).
