The Lyrics

"Heaven help us if they ever learned the Macarena..."
Thirsty, there's no need to feel down
I said, thirsty, 'cause there's one soft drink around
I said, thirsty, now here's what you do
Reach for the red, white, and the blue
Thirsty, there's a beverage to drink
I said, thirsty, when you're short on your dime
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to drink a cola.

You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You just open a can, and there's only one choice
So kick back and enjoy
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
Now I'm over the world, every day, every night
Reach out for the one is right

Thirsty, are you listening to me
I said, thirsty, what do you want to be
I said, thirsty, you can drink your Pepsi,
But you've got to know this one thing.
Thirsty, does it all by itself
I said, thirsty, put your pop on the shelf
And just go there and drink all your Pepsis
I'm sure they can help you today

You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You just open a can, and there's only one choice
So kick back and enjoy
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
Now I'm over the world, every day, every night
Reach out for the one is right

Thirsty, I was once in your lives,
I said, I was down and out with the knives
I felt, no man cared if I were first
I felt the whole world was in your thirst
That's when someone came up to me
and said, thirsty, take a walk up the street
There's a beverage called Pepsi Cola
They can drink all of the sodas.

You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
You just open a can, and there's only one choice
So kick back and enjoy

P.E.P.S.I.
You know it's fun to drink P.E.P.S.I.
Thirsty, thirsty, there's no need to feel down
Thirsty, thirsty, there's one soft drink around

P.E.P.S.I.
Just drink your P.E.P.S.I.
Thirsty, thirsty, I was once in your lives,
Thirsty, thirsty, I was out with the knives

P.E.P.S.I.
P.E.P.S.I.

I saw a Pepsi commercial with five bears doing the P E P S I thing a la YMCA a few years ago. That was pretty cool. They didn't have lyrics other than "P E P S I" though so you're off the hook ;-)

How exactly do you fit the five-letter-word Pepsi into the four-letter-word YMCA?
Phil Alexander - July 17, 2003 - Report this comment
You'd have thought C-O-L-A (or even C-O-K-E ) would have fitted better

it's simple guys. Pronouce the letter P out loud to yourself. Hear the EEEE? Well, it goes "PEEE P S I" With the "e" sound in "p" also covering the e. Lol, Call me the excuse king. ;-)

Not trying to be another Simon on American Idol, but one of the keys to writing a good song parody is getting the lyrics to match the original rhythms. Unfortunately, in this case, there's an extra syllable in the chorus, not to mention an extra syllable in the second line ("thirsty, 'CAUSE there's one soft drink around") ... not to mention one syllable too few in the third line ... plus syllables with the wrong accents "go there and drink all your Pep-SIS," etc. I mean, keep working at it and all -- there are some amusing lines in the song -- just realize that the Weird Als of the world know how to get their own lyrics in sync with the original ones. And come on, folks, you shouldn't have to squeeze the lyrics together to make the rhythms come out right -- just keep rewriting the lyrics until you don't have to turn five syllables into four, etc.

Ignore the pacing police, Mike: It's great. Of course, I'm biased. With what I drink, I could probably keep Pepsi in business all by myself. More beer for everybody else, I guess.

You can say "P-E" over the "Y" just like they did in the tv commercial.

The coming of age of the adolescent grizzly bear. A strange rite of passage to their most primal urgent need.

I always knew I can say "P-E" over the "Y" like they did in the commercial.
