**A Real Tree**

Can we get a real tree? Can we?

I chew fat with my father
To see what he would think
If we could get a tree this weekend
But he snorts and grunts as he drinks

Can we get a real tree, father? Father?!
Can we get a real tree, father? Father?! Oh bother!

I next run to my mother
I say, "Come on, the price will be free"
She says, "Chop it ourselves, son?
That's illegal in our county!"

Can we get a real tree, Mother? Mother?!
Can we get a real tree, Mother? Mother?! Oh bother!

Get a tree, real live tree, real live tree, can we get a real tree?

The cracks I hear behind my back
Give me shivers like a snowy rain
School buddies they tease me
Saying that our kind have such tastes so lame
The smell I used to love
Would waft throughout the house
Yesterdays' soft scent of pine
We only have a fake tree now

Can we get a real tree? Can we?
Can we get a real tree? Can we?

I saw the old Christmas tree man
I asked of his sell date
I peeved him more than a little
"It's only October, just wait!"

Can we get a real tree, vendor?
Can we get a real tree, Mother?
A real tree, a real tree!
Can we get a real tree, Father?

Can we get a real tree tree tree tree tree tree....

Oh, the scent of a real pine tree ! ! I love them 'frosted' with snow! My Dad, being from MilWOWkee, always got us a flocked tree! . . . . At Christmas, I miss you so, ~JJ~.

SOTM-I'm Jewish but I can understand the idea behind this. I hate electric Menorahs! I gotta smell that burning candle wax. Similar? Maybe.

I know I read this one, because I followed along with you and you're entire Christmas Who project. A great way to kick it off, and congrats on getting the entire album done within the time of one month that takes some effort, believe me I tried it for Halloween and failed.

(SOTM) Great effort in the internal rhyming. A few more puns or jokes would have made this better though.

Those super parody projects are fun to do, but more fun to those on the inside than those on the outside, with very few exceptions, and as a stand along song to me this wasn't one of those.

(SOTM) I had a hell of a time with the YouTube videos, so that made it a bit frustrating. The video you provided wasn't loading fast enough and would pause mid-song, and then the next video of "Real Me" (by itself) was abridged, so I finally found a good video to use, but these frustrations made the parody a little less funny to me. 444

(SOTM) I've never had a real tree - but then I don't think they grow much in Aussie. DKTOS, but I'm presuming the pacing was perfect given the votes. Nice work!

(SOTM) not LOL funny, Ag, but I appreciate the need to stick to the OS in these projects - great idea for a project btw and a worthy intro piece - 555

(SOTM) I enjoyed the sentiment about the fake tree. Well done on the song.

(SOTM) Well written to the OS, I could see the image painted. I'd say cute is the best way to describe this one.

SOTM - The pacing was a little off from the youtube recording, seemed like your parody had an extra syllable or two here and there. And I agree with Peter about holiday themed parodies. Sometimes (and I'm just as guilty) you have to force things a little to get in done in a timely fashion, and this one suffered a bit from that.
