The Lyrics

In the United States, it's common for people to go to what we call "big box" stores or large supermarkets, at least in part for the free food samples. This song is about overdoing that pastime.
Free Samplin'

At the Costco down on the west side
Or the Nob Hill by the freeway
They give samples, sometimes they're tasty
I get my fill every day

Been a bad boy on my lunch break
When I pig out there's no stoppin' me
Keep a toothpick in my back pocket
And I scarf down whatever's free

I get free, free samples
I get free, free samples

They got nachos with blue corn chips
And some hot dogs warm on a tray
All the bad girls get their samples
Take a few more when the guy looks away
All the crumb cake, and the salami
All the mixed nuts, popcorn and cheese
Feelin' sick now, kinda overdid it
I smell chocolate, God help me please

'Cause I'm free, free samplin'
Yeah, I'm free, free samplin'
And I'm free, free samplin'
And I'm free, free samplin'

Now there's a cheese ball on aisle seven
And some bagels cut-up on the side
A diversion, I'll throw firecrackers
Now the cheese ball is mine all mine

Now I'm cheese, I'm cheese-ballin'
Now I'm cheese, I'm cheese-ballin'
And I'm cheese, I'm cheese-ballin'
And I'm cheese, I'm cheese-ballin'

Scuse me, but I'm writing you a ticket for placing a 1989 song in the 70s section.

Any fans of Bob or of this song can now hear it on RAD&MAD's soundclick site. there should be a link soon, but you can beat the crowds now. Having heard many of the recordings, I can say with conviction that he is one of the best singers that has put up a recording here. We were glad to help, he and his wife are good people.

It's fifteen years to the day that the first Bob Gomez parody appeared on AmiRight. You're not forgotten Bob; hope that Oscar party went well this year
