Parody Song Title:

"Iron Dobbin"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The real Iron Dobbin was a real mechanical horse that worked, built by a private inventor. It was suggested that it be put into limited production to train GIL (Italian Fascist Youth Movement) children to ride, but was deemed impractical. It also was rejected for military service to replace mountain troop donkeys. The Germans DID read about the machine in Popular Science magazine (April 1933) and eventually drew up plans for their version to be named the Panzerpferd (Tank Horse) for their Gebirgsjaeger troops who equally rejected that idea; instead, the Germans worked on an airborne portable scooter for their Paras from TRW...
Iron Dobbin, Iron Dobbin,
Does what a traditional horse can
From fascist Italy, built full size,
This Horse of Steel is mechanized
Look Out! Here comes the Iron Dobbin

Is it strong? You bet friend,
It runs off a motorcycle engine. Can it draw a war wagon?
It’s got steel pipe legs that articulate, but do not bend
Hey, there- there goes the Iron Dobbin

Built to train children to ride
It’s got a steady stride
Is there need for improvement?
Not according to the Italian Fascist Youth Movement!

Iron Dobbin, Iron Dobbin
Even capable of drawing a coffin
Public curiosity
Is not what it’s for - but Italian Mountain Troops in foreign wars
Got to get this into production
Before it’s copied by the Germans (as Panzerpferd)
Look out! Here comes the Iron Dobbin
Here's a picture of the machine: http://italy.greyfalcon.us/pictures/do2.jpg

From reading your parody, email, and viewing the pic in the link listed at the bottom comment line, I concluded, This parody was Great! The Iron Dobbin is like a funny looking bicycle, but I bet every child, even a wild one like me, is going to want one for Christmas, or on their birthday! LOL! ;-D But, as I said great parody, on a great machine, I just got a history lesson from you today, BTW was it the "Italian Fascist Youth Movement" who invented the Iron Dobbin? But now to rate your parody, oh this one certainly gets three 5's without a doubt! :-)

Oh, I failed to read the top comment line, according to it, The Iron Dobbin was built by a "private inventor" but you wouldn't happen to know who that was would you?

No one famous!!! But seriously, I'm sure it "might" be in the April 1933 issue of Popular Mechanics- IF you could ever find that issue!!! I can imagine the total shock if one of the Italian motorcycle companies like Moto Guzzi would have been ordered to produce it in quantity by Mussolini!!! Still, that machine AFAIK is the only functional Mechquin ever built that worked. Sorta like the German ornithopter of WW2 that actually could fly... but that's another story (or parody)!!!
