The Lyrics

Yeah, this is one of those self-explanatory titles...
Frat boys ain't easy to love cause they're tricky to scold
Cause they'd rather brush your words off than do what they're told
Low-armpit singlets and caps they've turned sideways
So much beer drunken in one day
Although when you hang with him, can't tell if he-e's drunk
He'll paw at you a-a-anyway

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be frat boys
Don't let 'em frequent bars or call their ma-a-ates "brah"
Sure, pay a fortune for college and such
Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be frat boys
Cause they'll tell awful jokes about girls that they've boned
While their hands are on her butt

Frat boys like hangin' in dorm rooms after long nights hazin'
Poor confused freshmen who didn't want to steal headlights
But the head frat man had told him that he had to
Cause it's tradition, this hazin'
Might seem wrong to make freshmen eat a school of goldfish
But that's just what these dicks are like

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be frat boys
Don't let 'em ride in cars full of Solo-o-o cups
Makin' the college look like a huge dump
Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be frat boys
Cause when they come back home, you will find that they know
Jack 'bout the things they were taught

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be frat boys
Don't let 'em act an arse and waste all you-ou-our bucks

I don't know if frat culture is a thing in Australia, but I suspect it's less "red Solo cup" and more "silver goon sack".

What happened to the rhyming after the first verse? And, in the second verse, why does the fifth line refer to girls in the plural and the sixth line in the singular?

JW - I don't think I really strayed too far from the original rhyme scheme, though perhaps "brah/such" and "hazin'/goldfish" are a bit of a stretch, I'll admit. I'll also admit that mixing up the plural and the singular was a flat-out biff, though it does fit with the OS going back and forth with plural and singular pronouns when referring to cowboys (which I replicated). You could say that the frat boys are bragging about their previous "conquests" while fondling their current girlfriend's butt.

Thank you very much! I didn't think I would get an answer. Now I can stop wondering.
