The Lyrics

I was walking around Bryant Park in Manhattan on a Saturday afternoon, and glanced westward toward Seventh Avenue, Broadway, and Times Square. I didn't go to Times Square that day, but I've been there many, many times... OS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-6xmcGvJHc (Lyrics start at 3:44.)
(very long instrumental intro)

Ride to Times Square, and you follow,
Walk the blocks through the heart of the city.
Short distance.
How can I slip through the crowds all around me?
Hawkers with tickets to laughter.
Tour bus creeps through the heart of the city.
Tall billboards!
Why do electric announcements surround me?
Dwarfed by the city.

Actor folk fly as they hurry by,
Craving the curtain calls we supply.

Browse through the stores, and then after,
Beg a Playbill for free from a theater.
Scan through the pages, you’re dreaming;
Read of musicals opened by Disney.
Short pursestrings!
How to afford to see theater on Broadway?
Short pursestrings!
How to afford to see new shows on Broadway?
I feel poor in the city.

(instrumental break)

Tourist folk fly as they hurry by,
Snapping the skyscrapers we supply them…

(long instrumental break)

Midnight falls
And all the decent people scatter for the subway.
Dregs take over in the absence of the sun.
Druggies, prostitutes,
And hustlers roam the streets until the sunrise.
Seek Times Square out at a time that really fits you!

(instrumental break)

Fly from Times Square, and then after,
Ride the rush from the heart of the city.
Tough distance!
When will the lights up on Broadway announce me?
Tough distance!
When will the lights over Broadway announce me?
I feel teased by the city, yeah!

(quick instrumental end)

Can't let a YES song go by without commenting. One of these days I'll go back to NYC. Haven't been there in about 25 years. 555 for tackling a great OS.

DKTOS (not a Yes fan, well, maybe a YES Network fan), but the only thing missing were those lunatics driving cabs!
