The Lyrics

I was going to be the first to put this song on, but Johnny D beat me by a day. And he did it well. I'm going to take a break after this one, which is dedicated to my pal Dave.
Don't see my hound about
He's such wandering gadabout
He always sneaks away
Call him morning , evening, noon and night
He's hiding in the valley

He used to hang with me
I used to chase him 'round a tree
Now he won't come to play
Call him morning , noon and night
You won't find him with Rand-McNally

In and around the house
Piles pop up on the ground and they stay there
Put a bowl out every day with doggie chow
In the morning empty like it is right now
Twenty -four times shouted "Dog"
Don't see single hide nor hair

He's such a careless hound
He might wind up back at the pound
Why does he disappear?
Could be on a porch or in a well
Or seein' poodle "Sally"......

In and around the house
Piles pop up on the ground and they stay there
Put a bowl out every day with doggie chow
In the morning empty like it is right now
Twenty -four times shouted "Dog"
Don't see single hide or hair of you

(Diddle-a diddle-a-woof! Woof! Diddle-a diddle-a-woof!
Diddle-a diddle-a-woof! Diddle-a diddle-a-woof!)

Along the drifting clouds the airplane searching down on the ground
I've paid a lot of cash for search and rescuing that damn hound
I think I see him there, if there were only some place to land
And when I get him home I'm gonna bury him in the sand
I like to let him roam but it has cost me a couple grand
I guess I'll buy a leash for this is getting quite out of hand

I want my hound about
He's my best friend without a doubt
I want my hound about
He's my best friend without a doubt

In and around the house
Mountains pop up on the ground and they lie there
Could'a got another dog
Good as that one there......

Don't see my hound about
No matter how I scream and shout
He always sneaks away
Call him morning , evening, noon and night
He's hiding in the valley

In and around the house
Piles pop up on the ground and they stay there
Put a bowl out every day with doggie chow
In the morning empty like it is right now
Twenty -four times shouted "Dog"
Don't see single hide nor hair of you

That doggie don't come to Pa
That doggie won't come to Pa
That doggie don't come to Pa
That doggie won't come to Pa

Awwww, I love this one! I am such a dog person - maybe someday I'll be able to have one of my own. Rick, this rocks. So slick, dude...favorite line:
Could be on a porch or in a well
Or seein’ poodle “Sally”……
......All 5's on this gem - well done.

It IS a good one, Rick!!

Thanks. I notice a lot of people jumping on the Beatle bandwagon since I got here. Maybe we'll start a Yes trend. They certainly deserve it with those lyrics.

Rick, I agree with your assessment of Yes lyrics - Yes's own original lyrics are silly and incoherent, and therefore prime parody material - and they do indeed deserve it.

Their song called “Roundabout”
Yes wrote with words that sound about
As good as fingernails
Scraping on a chalkboard loaded-down with lobster-green tomalley

Someday I might do and entire history of the band to the entire album "Tales From Topographic Oceans", and we'll see if Chuckie posts that!

Rick, again, good job - your parody covered some parts of "Roundabout" near the end of the song that my parody missed --- ARRRRGH, I should have proofread more and paid closer attention !!! Oh well......live and learn......next time I will pay more attention to details and slow it down a bit before I reach for that PROCESS button. Now I'm wishing my own parody was more complete.....maybe I'll post a revised version someday.

Hey, I do that too. You get amped in the heat of the moment. Oops, that's Steve Howe's other band, Asia.

Hey Rick, once he kicks the bucket, Jon Anderson will be spinning in his grave. :-) I'm really glad you kept the middle section; even Yes themselves don't play it in concert any more. That's probably my favorite part of your version. Well done, and thanks for the dedication! Dave Westbay

No he isn't. I just read a biography about him where they stated that he is going out on a solo tour 2004. Anyways had to check out..

After that draws in the small crowds, he'll be back with his Yesmen.
