The Lyrics

The House of Representatives seems to think that as long as they have hearings and issue subpoenas, including demands to see what they legally cannot see, everything's fine. What say you?
Oh, no, no /It’s subpoena time
Oh, whoa, whoa /down the party line

For two years this Mueller thing’s gone on/Don’t you know that he found nothing wrong,
They want a re-do/Can’t believe that it’s true
And now they’re calling for subpoena time!

Once they thought Mr. Trump was through/But they know all their stuff was untrue
They are not happy/They’ll make it snappy
And stall the Congress: it’s subpoena time.

Oh, Oh, Oh/Now subpoena time
Oh, Oh, Oh/Listen to ‘em whine

Nadler wanted something he can’t see/Redacted places put there legally
But he won’t stop there, inventing stuff from thin air
He placed subpoenas out in record time!

(Bridge) This might last for longer than we think
But they feel they’re right/And we are so wrong
Maybe they hope the ratings quickly sink/ But Trump’s gone this far
And it's more than we’ve hoped for--

Who knows just what Mr. Barr will find /Maybe that’s what’s troubling their minds
They’ll take their chances/And risk the circumstances/
Still they’ve found nothing for the longest time!

(Bridge) I know they had high hopes at the start
Mueller would find/Collusion in his report'
Now they know that simply nothing’s there/ It's obvious so far/
All just some thin air

They don’t care if nothing else is done/forgetting the country must be run,
They’ll keep requesting/ this conduct we’re detesting
But that won’t stop them in subpoena time!

Woah, oh, oh, oh/it’s subpoena time
Woah, oh, oh/Wasting lots of time
Woah, oh, oh/ it’s subpoena time
Woah, oh, oh/ Wasting lots of time
Woah, oh, oh/ it’s subpoena time

The Russians have a pee tape on Mueller, so he had to cover up the truth.

Whoa-oh. Here's a group of fives, 555 …. Have never done a Billy Joel tune. His lyrics are pretty lengthy and complex and I don't really love any of his songs. I'm impressed by some of them -- I think "We Didn't Start The Fire" should be in the Big 7.

Is anyone still doing the Big Seven? I thought most of those guys were gone. "We Didn't Start The Fire" is far more challenging than either "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" or "Chimes of Freedom", both so capably done by the great Leo Keough. It has a fast paced delivery that makes it very tough to follow.

I did my share of The Big 7 (for better or worse)--we need fresh blood to carry on the mantle.

This must be some inside stuff: I'm guessing "Longest Time" is one of the Big 7 but which of Mr. Joel's other works make up the other six? I feel a challenge coming on!

Jonathan--the so-called "Big 7" are-- Be Our Guest (Beauty & The Beast), Blinded By The Light (Manfred Mann, although originally by Bruce Springsteen), Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious (Mary Poppins), The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald (Gordon Lightfoot), Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen), American Pie (Don McLean), I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major General (Gilbert & Sullivan). Accomplishing a parody of each is a badge of honor amongst veteran parodists here.
