The Lyrics

Believe it or not, I wasn't always so obsessed with LOTR. In fact, when The Fellowship was about to come out, I made fun of the "nerds" that all wanted to see it. I watched it under duress, feeling much pressure from my friends...and well, now i'm probably the biggest nerd in the bunch! Guilty as charged...oh well...
Oh, oh, oh, oh..
For the longest time
Oh, oh, oh
For the longest time

Looking back, a couple years ago
Thought "The Fellowship" would really blow
What was I thinking?
Two years later, I love that Ring
Feels like I've loved it for the longest time

After I had finally seen the light
Bought the show and watched it day and night
Learned all that I could
Because I thought the show was so good
I did my research for the longest time

Oh, oh, oh, oh...
For the longest time
Oh, oh, oh
For the longest time

"The Two Towers" came out a year ago
My obsession continued to grow
Gave me the shivers
Peter Jackson sure delivers!
I could have watched him for the longest time

Some folks think the films are too long
But speaking for me, I think they are wrong
"What? Three hours???" that's what they say
But I watched it today
And I could have watched much more

Who knows how much longer I can wait
I've grown quite impatient as of late
"Return of the King"
I get excited just from thinking
I know I'll love it for the longest time

I had second thoughts at the start
But now Middle Earth is dear to my heart
Chapter Three is quickly drawing near
Wish it would just get here
It's just so hard to wait for

Can't believe how slow this year has passed
Finally, it's December at last!
I can't believe it
New Zealand's already seen it
Oh, I've been waiting for the longest time

Oh, oh, oh, oh...
For the longest time
Oh, oh, oh
For the longest time

I can relate to this one. I, too, watched "Fellowship..." under duress! I didn't care for the film, at all, the first time I saw it. But, I've watched it a few times, since then and it's grown on me, some. I still find the scale errors and some of the animated bits overly distracting in "Fellowship...", but I enjoyed most of "Two Towers" and, while I'm not swept away by Ring fever, I do actually find myself looking quite forward to part 3. Great job, Arwen!

Thanks! To be honest, I didn't like the Fellowship the first time I watched it...probably because i was so determined not to like it. but for like a week, it was all I could think about...and when I watched it again...I suddenly loved it. I know...I'm a mental case. I get this obsessive about everthing...oh well...thanks again!

My wife and I are so hard core, we signed-up ahead of time back in 1977 to get first-edition hardcovers of "The Silmarillion" when they went on sale at the Tech Coop at M.I.T. You're not alone, Arwen - you're part of a shamelessly geeky community of proud LOTRLOVERS.

Oh and by the way, three 5's for this excellent parody, too!

Thanks, Johnny...it's good to know that there is support out there!

This was sweet. I read the LOTR trilogy plus "The Hobbit" for the first time before the movies came out. I was an instant Tolkien fan. Jackson and the gang have done a beautiful job of bringing the story to life, but frankly, it still can't compare to Tolkien's achievement. Congratulations on a fine song here, and I'm dedicating my next one to you personally. See you at the movies. d;:^)

Good work. "You even made it rhyme" combining Bill and LotR makes for a good combo, and your pacing is excellent. I'm just kind of interested in what the back-up singers' parts would be. That only get's important if you want to perform it though. Good job all around and I hope this makes it onto the top ten if only to remind everyone that The King is Returning very soon.

This is a gr8 parody, I no what u mean coz of my Linkin Park obbession. My only claim to fame is that I'm from NZ, same as Peter Jackson & LOTR was filmed here. We havent already seen it, just the rich ppl who went to the premiere, so I guess we r all hanging in there . . . good luck =P

Arwen - No, don't get all excited yet, I didn't vote on it. I went to rent "Fellowship" the other day and would you believe Blockbuster did have a copy available? All Rented out. So I'll have to try again. Haven't forgotten that I promised to at least check it out. Later....

Paul...I have total faith that you'll keep your promise. I haven't been around the site much lately...haven't submitted anything in ages...but was tickled that you thought to leave me a message. Thanks, buddy. One of these days I'll get back into the swing of parody-ing... too much going on in my "other" life to give it my all right now...but thanks. I'll be eager to hear your review...
