The Lyrics

Agrimorfee was right: my previous (Van Halen) parody was not up to my usual par. Here is the reason why.
You can have some fun with almost any song
By writing all-new lyrics on its tune
And you can make a poem, let imagination roam
that's a good way to spend an afternoon

And if you are adult and not a total dolt
You also may have sometimes drink or two -
Whisky, rum or beer, wine you might endear
It will brighten up your day when feeling blue

But those two don't get along, hooch and spoofing song
Don't combine a parody and plonk -
'Cause when you spoof a song, it's too easy make it wrong -
Don't write parodies when drunk!
Ooo

You can write new words that might appeal us nerds
Or make them witty, clever, or plain fun
Heavy metal, rock, country, soul or pop
just any style of music can be done

You can drink like fool till you begin to drool
Or embalm yourself just like a pharaoh
You can get so high till you feel that you fly
But combining drink and parodies won't go!

So those two don't get along: hooch and spoofing song
Don't combine a parody and plonk -
'Cause when you spoof a song, it's too easy make it wrong -
Don't write parodies when drunk!
Ooo

But those two don't get along, hooch and spoofing song
Don't combine a parody and plonk -
'Cause when you spoof a song, it's too easy make it wrong -
Don't write parodies when drunk!
Ooo

Excellent advice. Personally, I never needed alcohol or dope to screw up a project or act the fool. Considering the taxes on liquor, that saves me a lot of money. Leough, on the other hand, seems to find some of his best inspiration in a bottle of Jim Beam. Everyone's talent responds to different stimuli, or lack thereof. This is a good parody of a song that is a veritable invitation to change the lyrics. I heard a version on the radio years ago when the song was popular "Don't tell my butt, my achy, breaky butt, the butt I like to wiggle when I dance. Cause if you tell my butt, my achy, breaky butt, it my swell up and split my pants".

Dang, Susanna you're keeping this website afloat almost by yourself! I'm been a tad busy with other things for the past couple of weeks, but hopefully I can get back into this by the end of June

I don't drink alcohol so no problem there! 455
oh and Patrick! my family has a recording somewhere of a version that was also out a while back (I'm guessing around the time Billy Ray began losing his popularity) it opened with the lyrics: "my name is Billy Ray I'm the hottest out today I wear my blue jeans tight around my thighs so all you girls out there can throw your underwear and then you can undress me with your eyes" that's all I can remember at the moment but even back when I was a mondo-Billy Ray fan I found it amusing I'm sure if I was to hear the full thing again I would find it even funnier today!

The OS is stupid and awful, I can write a better song than that when I'm drunk. And the new "rap" version is even worse. And your parodies that are written when you've been drunk beat them both. Kudos!

Well, I have done some 'buzz' writing. Does that count?
