The Lyrics

Willie Mays, an MLB legend and Birmingham's own "Say Hey Kid," has died at the age of 93. Mays, widely regarded as the greatest living baseball player at the time of his death, began his professional career at Rickwood Field, playing for the Birmingham Black Barons when he was just a teenager. Since the announcement of his passing, many fans, athletes, organizations, politicians and AmIRighters have reacted to his death and the legacy he leaves behind.
Sing, (Start in to sing, you’ll have to swing,)
Then, you’ll swing, (Start in to sing, you’ll have to swing,)
That dead guy is bound to get you,

Oh, (Turn on the heat, then beat your feet,)
Don’t go slow, (Turn on the heat, then beat your feet,)
That dead guy is bound to get you,

Dead guy, dead guy, dead guy, dead guy, dead guy...mmm...

(female vocal)

Willie Mays,
Start in to sing, then soon, you’ll be swinging,
Willie Mays,
Turn on the heat, your feet will keep beating,

One, two, three,
It’s a new sensation, (dee-de-oh!)
You’ll agree,
It’s the step that’s putting the world on its feet,

Willie Mays,
Once you begin, you have to give in to
Willie Mays,
Get on your toes, ‘cause everyone knows that

If you’re not a dunce,
Oh, you’ll catch on at once,
Well, now he’s dead, Rest In Peace,
RIP to Willie Mays!

(vocal trio)

Willie Mays,
Start in to sing, then soon, you’ll be swinging,
Willie Mays,
Turn on the heat, your feet will keep beating,

One, two, three,
It’s a new sensation, (doo-doo-do-doo!)
You’ll agree,
It’s the step that’s putting the world on its feet,

Willie Mays,
Once you begin, you have to give in to
Willie Mays,
Get on your toes, ‘cause everyone knows that

If you’re not a dunce,
You’ll catch on at once,
Now he’s dead, Rest In Peace,
RIP to Willie Mays, whoa!

Willie Mays,
(instrumental call-back)
Willie Mays,
(instrumental call-back)

One, two, three,
It’s a new sensation, (doo-doo-do-doo!)
You’ll agree,
It’s the step that’s putting the world on its feet,

Willie Mays,
(instrumental call-back)
Willie Mays,
(instrumental call-back)

If you’re not a dunce,
You’ll catch on at once,
Now he’s dead, Rest In Peace,
RIP to Willie Mays, whoa!

Simple as the day is long!

Captain Obvious and Phil Ossifer (real or otherwise) and GBGfan, please go outside and enjoy the nice weather. It is much better than squabbling on here.

And as I’ve tried to explain to you several times, the vast majority of posts are copy/pasted by G&GBF and reinserted under that day’s entry. He just uses other people’s names as cover. The fact that you haven’t figured that out by now makes me wonder if you’re as slow as he is. As for today’s lame submission, it’s the equivalent of pooping on someone’s grave. You don’t “honor” the passing of arguably the greatest baseball player of all time by doing another variation of G&GBF’s ‘tard anthem. You just don’t. Then again, I’m not surprised, given that this is the best he can do.

Great response. Obviously logic isn't your strong suit, but it's been apparent for some time that you don't seem to have one to begin with.

Clarify something for me. Exactly what “stance” is being given away because of my alleged inability to comprehend the greatness of your ‘tard anthem? I’m pretty sure you stand alone regarding that opinion. Did I hear an actual wolf in the distance or is that you trying to gin up the “brain issue” again. Seems like you’d actually have to have one to have an issue with it. From what I’ve seen on a cognitive level, you’re pretty much running on the same setup as a starfish.

Someone oughta publish all this schieze as a novel. This is beginning to rival Tristram Shandy as a meta-textual, confounding satire of mores and manners.

You fool no one. You need the attention so you'll continue to post this stupid stuff every day. Gotta say, as much as I detest each version of your ‘tard anthem, I couldn’t help but notice that your attempt to make a parody out of another geezer song was every bit as pathetic. On this board you’re basically the Affirmative Action kid who somehow found himself at MIT. Seems like what little talent you may have (debatable) would be better applied to collecting paper bags. Lastly, your subpar IQ showed its true self when you took a word I wrote and tried to extrapolate race from it. No blacks here (NTTAWWI). Our lineage is primarily Welsh. Sharpen your crayon and try again.

^^^^^Captain Obvious, spreading his subpar IQ for the world to see. I ask because you’re offended over a moment spoken by a white radio host, which was literally two seconds long; plus your Welsh accent is more than coming through in these comments. All my parodies are based off white, Depression-era swing bands. Won’t see me posting anything from an era after that. Why? Because I don’t need to. Every song recorded after the 1940s is garbage.

I'm fortunate that my job allows me to have a good life, which includes time to indulge my interests. It took a lot to get to where I am now, but I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I'll admit, the morbidly curious side of me wonders how a low-effort, double-digit IQ person like yourself goes about picking which fast food place to work at. Is there a copy/paste button on the register or are you strictly stuck doing fries?
George&GermaineBriantFan - June 20, 2024 - Report this comment
^^^^^Phil Ossifer demonstrating that “Rhythm Steps” rocks, despite never having listened to the original song or taken the time to realize what it’s all about.
The Real Phil Ossifer - June 20, 2024 - Report this comment
Remind me, did we ever resolve why you write so poorly? Was it because you’re lazy or stupid? Eh, I guess “both” could work here too. How you don’t drown in your own drool is beyond me. PS if ya need another username, Flakespeare is probably available.
Captain Obvious - June 20, 2024 - Report this comment
I have never seen anyone so desperate for attention yet so unwilling to do anything worthwhile to attain it. George&GermaineBriantFan apparently keeps files of all past comments that have appeared under his posts so he can copy/paste them into other entries. Some go back a ways in time and some have been reused multiple times. I’m guessing this is the best he can do as far as trying to have an actual conversation because by his own admission his family shunned him and he has no friends.
CML - June 20, 2024 - Report this comment
This parody is a disgrace. Willie Mays was arguably the greatest baseball player in ARGUABLY ALL OF HISTORY, and all he gets from this forum is a parody of “Rhythm Steps’’? What does that say about his legacy on this site if someone is willing to parody this stupid song for the 200th repitition? Does anyone have any compassion or respect anymore
Captain Obvious - June 20, 2024 - Report this comment
So George&GermaineBriantFan, if I have a subpar IQ, why would you continue to copy my comments? Hint: it’s because you’re too effing stupid to come up with anything clever or original on your own. The “Welsh accent coming through the comments” thing is major league stupid, even for you. Curious: why just “white” bands? Racist much?
