"Surrender....and Vote!"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I wrote this song as a satire of the 2008 election. The lyrics describe the positives and negatives of voting for either candidate [mostly the negatives for comedic purposes]. This is not meant to endorse either candidate, and any bias found by the reader is completely unintentional. If you have question about the meaning of a lyric, just leave a comment. Enjoy!
Obama told us, yes he told us "We really need a change"
He also told us, "They'll use the race card to ruin my campaign"
Just the other day I heard he was off to Iraq, to prove he can clean up when Bush gets sacked

Obama's alright, McCain is alright
The elections gettin' near
November! November!
Just don't throw your vote away!

McCain says "We'll be in Iraq until our job is done"
China maybe next if they don't leave poor Tibet alone
McCain is a true homeboy, he's a real America fan
He knows what's really best us, so he'll smear as best he can

Obama's alright, McCain is alright
whoever wins we will cheer
November! November!
Just don't throw your vote away!

Whatever happened to saving the planet? Obama wants 'ta drill
McCain says he'll make health care cheap, but he'll take away the pill
Times are getting darker as this battle rages on
At least in just a few months Bush will finally be gone!

Obama's alright, McCain is alright
the race is just a little weird
November! November!

It's funny how it got a 1 for pacing when it matches the number of syllables for each line with the original. Try singing [or at least thinking] these lyrics while listening to the actual song, THEY MATCH! In all honesty though I agree that it wasn't all that funny, probably 'cause the author focused too hard on informing us rather than having us laughing on the floor. Maybe if I cared more for politics this would have been funny, but oh well.

I haven't read this song as I tend not to get into political parodies when possible, but I saw your comment and wanted to assure you that we all get these "1" bombs now and then. It means you struck a nerve, and frankly, be proud of that, I am--I get them from time to time--and because I record most of mine, anything less than a 4 is a little hard to swallow, but it's not because that's my pacing, any more than your probably is. . .it's because you got to someone--congratulations, I will try to read your parody when I'm more awake. . .don't take those votes personally, opinions are like a**holes and everybody's got one. Oh and syllable matching is a very small part of pacing, you can be perfectly paced without it or be totally off with it, both can and do happen, but that's irrelevant until I actually read your parody.

I prefer non-partisan political parodies, and yours was no exception, so the 1's Bomb is quite puzzling. I could have sworn there was more to the song that could have been parodied, so my vote is a 554.

Thanks Dave and Agrimorfee for your support. I didn't really think that I got the 1 bomb because someone was being a jerk, I just kinda jumped the gun and thought I did something wrong. BTW, If anyone is confused as to why this was posted twice, the first time I posted it the system said it didn't receive it because of an error. It turns out that that it actually DID receive it. now there's two.

Very good. Very good. Normally we do not dabble in politics, but this one was pretty good. Keep it up.

Political parodies are usually too square for me but still I read your parody and it sums up my feelings that either main candidate would be an improvement after that corrupt cretin and the stupid things he did. I feel the same way about it now. You did a nice job and I love Cheap Trick. I've seen them twice - always a thrill.
