The Lyrics

The mother gives her daughter some goodies, all prepared just right
for Grammy who does feel some plight.
Hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm

The mother warns her pretty girl she mustn't stop while on the path,
no looking at a meddlesome chap
with a wish to chat.

And her mother has her dressed so fairly,
with a red hood on her head that one might find
on one who rides.

The lady in red
goes prancing with glee
'neath the trees.
She's not feeling fear.
A wolf she does meet.
The girl is indiscreet.
The wolf wants to know
where Grammy does reside.
She'll never forget
the way Gram' looked that night.

"I never knew your eyes were so massive," says the girl so mild.
"To better see you, my grandchild,"
the wolf says, gazing.

"I never knew your hairy, pointy ears to be of such great size,"
so says the girl. The wolf replies,
"To hear just what you say."

And as she mentions how big the teeth are,
she has reason to believe he'll eat her up.
What a gruesome plight.

The lady in red
is lanced by those teeth,
meat to eat.
There's no body left.
The meal is complete.
The wolf has such a feast.
Oh, she shoulda known
this cagey wolf was snide.
She'll never be dressed
in cape with hood so bright.

She ever will regret
the way Gram' looked that night.

The lady is dead.
The wolf is well-fed.
The lady in red,
that lady is dead.

(A tough doom)
