Parody Song Title:

"Whip 'Em"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

My last dedication to the Black Whip played by Linda Stirling so well!
Use that whip
make that pistol slip
never hold back
fight off each attack

When some henchmen come along
she must whip ‘em
when the bandits come on strong
she must whip ‘em
when sparing them is wrong
she must whip ‘em

Now whip ‘em
it’s their fate
tear them up
set ’em straight
lash forward
strike ‘em dead
they’re only bandits
consumed by hate
so whip ‘em
whip ’em good

When the outlaws rule a town
she must whip ‘em
they will try to gun her down
unless she whips ‘em
they are gonna pay
sometimes she kills ‘em
Black Whip never quits
(She) hit ’em good...

Rob, you were doing really nicely on the pacing of this one, but the song is much longer than this. I bet you would have enough material in the topic to do the whole song; would really love to see that if you redo it.

I checked out your second link. Quite a lady there. Although before I clicked on it I was imagining someone Catwomanish in Victoria's Secret... ;)

This is indeed a "short" version with no need to repeat the same chorus over again heavy with intermixing. Being the third Black Whip parody with limited information from the serial, it was quite appropriate to use the "short" version. Even the vets here on occasion use the shorts :)

A recent example with flaws. To begin with the OS was titled "School Days, School Days" from 1907 and the LONG song lyrics included "readin' and 'ritin' and rithmetic spelled that way.: http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/traditional2163.shtml

Add the fact that the perfectionists here never add all the artist "Oohs, and aaws", and other artist expressions spoken found in a majority of original songs- makes them imperfect! The majority of lyrics sites omit such expressions unless they are repetitive "yeahs, and yeah babys". I would suggest that perfectionists learn this lesson: "Practice makes progression, not perfection". IYE

In my Ear? Funny, and constructive! Your points are interesting, but they didn't address the question, which was:

Can you give some examples of where the vets that you referred to had shortened the original songs?

I didn't make fun of you by saying UYNWARH (Welcome Back Kotter should get you there)... I was interested in your assertion because I haven't seen evidence of what you said.

Repost for those that can't read: A recent example with flaws. To begin with the OS was titled "School Days, School Days" from 1907 and the LONG song lyrics included "readin' and 'ritin' and rithmetic spelled that way.: http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/traditional2163.shtml Also, the original lyrics for those that can't process information: School days, school days Dear old golden rule days Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic Taught to the tune of the hickory stick You were my queen in calico I was your bashful barefoot beau And you wrote on my slate "I love you, so" When we were a couple of kids Nothing to do, Nellie Darling Nothing to do you say Let's take a trip on memory's ship Back to the bygone days Sail to the old village school house Anchor outside the school door Look in and see There's you and there's me A couple of kids once more School days, school days Dear old golden rule days Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic Taught to the tune of the hickory stick You were my queen in calico I was your bashful barefoot beau And you wrote on my slate "I love you, so" When we were a couple of kids 'Member the hill Nellie Darling And the oak tree That grew on its brow They've built forty storeys Upon that old hill And the oak's an old chestnut now 'Member the meadows So green, dear So fragrant with clover and maize Into new city lots And preferred business plots They've cut them up Since those days School days, school days Dear old golden rule days. Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic Taught to the tune of the hickory stick You were my queen in calico I was your bashful barefoot beau And you wrote on my slate "I love you, so" When we were a couple of kids

Good point Rob - I saw the School Days one and thought the same thing - it was good and could have been better if longer, but I think that day I was in a hurry and did not say anything further in the comments. I remember I voted it a 5 for humor but only a 3 (I think) for overall as only the chorus had been done. Pip and I used to try and do every oh oh and ah ah in songs, but I admit we probably skip that about 50% of the time now.
