The Lyrics

As promised, though it took long enough to find the right base song, here is my tribute song for Ashley!
(instrumental opening)

Remember when the days were long
when cruising through that song website.
Didn't have the time to look
at all the good stuff on Amiright.
Happily, this girl never fails.
We're excited by her funny tales.
Voters approve her details
and watch the comments fly.

Gonna five-vote her next parody
as would any man.
Sit and watch the laughs roll by.
She kicks ass yet once again.

You can type away on your keyboard
even if you can't afford her.
Let the laughter now commence
if you're a friend

if you're a friend of Miss Ashkicksass.

Oh, beautiful in Utah's skies
while at her songs we're chuckling.
She's beating punchlines into swords
for young Potter and the Tolkein king.
Keyboard warriors often fail
to write songs as good as Ashley's tales.
Voters approve her details
on that, I cannot lie.

Gonna five-vote her next parody.
A one would be a sin.
Sit and watch the laughs roll by.
She kicks ass yet once again.

You can type away on your keyboard
even if you can't afford her.
Let the laughter now commence
if you're a friend

if you're a friend of Miss Ashkicksass.

(instrumental bridge)

And who knows how long this will last?
But with her songs we have a blast.
She's making us guys eat her dust
and she gets applause from each of us.
I need to cheer on this miss
so, baby, here's a keyboard kiss :-*
Got new songs, I'll take a look.
No doubt, I'll vote them high.

You can type away on your keyboard
even if you can't afford her.
Let the laughter now commence
if you're a friend

if you're a friend of Miss Ashkicksass.

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa...

(instrumental fadeout)

While I think you did a FABULOUS job here, I have to wonder if you know that Arwen and I are, in fact, two different people... ; )

Or is she the friend of Ashkicksass?

I'm a little more confused than I probably should be. Flattered (I think) but confused nonetheless...

This is fan-FREAKING-tastic, MP!! You all know that I hold the Ashkicker in the highest regard...nice to know the rest of you are coming around.

My favorite line? "so, baby, here's a keyboard kiss :-*"

As a resident of Concord, Massachusetts, home of Walden Woods which Don Henley has, and still is, working so diligently to preserve for both wildlife and future generations of humanity, I am always particularly interested in parodies of Mr. Henley's songs (I've parodied both "The Boys of Summer" and "The End of The Innocence") ... and this particular parody is a paragon of praise for a woman who deserves every syllable. Well done, Michael.

Kristof - that's why I was confused. I average like, one song a year. That's why I didn't understand why Michael would write a tribute about me and my parodies. (That's not to say I don't love it, or that I'm not totally flattered and now have a total crush on him.) I just thought that it might actually be about Arwen. Because as far as I'm concerned, she's the coolest of the cool. (I hope that makes sense!)

But thank you all for the kind words!

To loosely paraphrase a line from "Ghostbusters" If someone wants to pay you a tribute, then you say YES! I love this song and when it mentioned you have done some songs for both LotR and HP, well, that was enough for me. I've discovered a new song, at least it is new for me, that you have done because of this tribute song. So don't worry, be happy (BTW I really hate that song) ^-^ 555 for this and your Patronus!

Ooops! I forgot to mention that my prior post was aimed at Ashkicksass. Sorry about that, I'm usually better at addressing people with my posts. (hangs her head down in shame)

Well thanks Kim! Wow...

Now where in the sam hill is Michael?

Ash: No, this was definitely about you. I know Arwen is from Wyoming, not Utah. Come to think of it, in another Don Henley parody, "Royce's Summer," I put in a line for Arwen: "I can you you, your elf ears pointed to the sun..." If you're gonna pay tribute to another Amirighter, you should look up his/her parodies, to get specific about why said person is worthy of said parody. Sam Hill? Is that near Gun Point? Johnny: In addition to "Royce's Summer," I've also done the Shakespeare parody "Desdemona," and turned the Arnold recall into "Campaign California," if you don't mind me putting my dirty laundry on display.

Well, Michael, now that I know it was actually about me I am beyond flattered. And totally surprised. I didn't know you knew I even existed! I am seriously touched. Thank you so much!!!

Oh, I definitely know you exist, Ash. I'm not sure about the Florio brothers, though.
