The Lyrics

As much as I wish it weren't true, one of my first crushes was on C.C. DeVille...lead guitarist for the 80s hair band Poison. In retrospect, I realize that he resembled Phyllis Diller WAY too much to justify the huge crush that I had...but...alas, it was what it was. Thankfully...as the years passed...I learned to move on...
His tight fluorescent clothes
His hair, enhanced with bleach
I saw him standing there
Knew he was out of reach
Played guitar in a band
I'd dream of him 'til morn'
It didn't quite work out
Guess that Rose had it's Thorn

But I still see him
His white hair blowin' in the sun
He'd rat it up so high with his pink lip gloss on, baby
But I can tell you my taste in men moved on and on
After that Poison Strummer had gone

I never will forget the night
I saw him like a perfect dream
So Fast he almost drove me crazy
So Furious he made me scream
Now all I want's that man to give him all my love
I wan-na know him front to back
I wanna know just what he's made of

I can see him
His bald head shinin' in the sun
I wonder if he could know he gets me so SO undone
And I can tell you my love for him's still going strong
Unlike that Poison Strummer who's gone

(instrumental break...filled with reminiscent daydreams of imagined celebrity love)

Out on the road today, I heard the New Kids singing on the radio
I couldn't help myself and so I, joined in for ev-er-y "oh-ee-oh"
I thought I knew what love was
With Joey Joe
Did-n't Love Me Forever
I had to let him go but

I can see him
His ripped jeans blowin' in the sun
He never did come 'round though my torch burned on, baby
And I can tell you my love for him was three years strong
After that Poison Strummer had gone

I can see them
I loved them each and ev'ry one
They never loved me back; I know I should move on, baby
But I can tell you my love for them will linger on
'Cept for that Poison Strummer, he's gone

I like how you dovetailed the OS lyrics with: "his bald head shining in sun" part. 5's

Imaginative, and interesting

That third verse made me wonder why we don't get to read that many 'wet dream' parodies ! Ha ha

beautifully written and paced, Arwen and btw did either of those Cs in C.C. Deville stand for Cruella? (....you knowing him so well and all)

CC DeVille, and not Bret Michaels? Hmmmm.....and Joey NKOTB? Hells bells....fun stuff sweetie. 555

Ah, the 80's. I was a child of that strange and cheesy era myself. Of course, my crushes were Debbie Gibson and Tiffany...ugh. Anyway, great parody. Big 5's.

C.C. DeVille? (turns green, and not with envy) And Joey McIntyre?!? (feels really sick now) That is IT! We are once again, like, y'know, SO over, an' stuff! Despite the immense greatness of this parody... aw, hell, who am I kidding? I can't stay away, and besides, some of "My Fictional Flings" were pretty lame, too. I mean, Kristy MacNichol? (So ashamed of that one I didn't even put her in the song!) But you may be in luck, as Kate Bosworth appears to have kicked Mister Bloom to the curb.

Alvin...always a goal of mine...thanks for noticing! =)

TJC...thanks a million!

Lionel...=) Thanks!

AFW...if I had nothing else...I would have an imagination, to be sure. Luckily, though, I also have the face of an angel and all the wit and charm in the world...; ) Thanks!

Little Pippin...you know I have nothing for you on that one. Nothing. I'm going to have to take back what I said about having endless wit to AFW...=( Thanks anyway!

Stuart...nice. He actually looks a bit like Cruella, now that I think of it. You might be on to something...=)

Kristof...it's true...I sometimes go against the grain. All the OTHER girls were swooning over Bret Michaels...and I had my eyes on C.C. In retrospect, I think that the masses might have picked the lesser of two evils...

JP...and I wanted to BE Debbie Gibson and Tiffany...so I guess we're even. Thanks!

Michael...You bet your butt you can't stay away. Even if you WEREN'T crazy for me, you're smart enough to know that if you ever left me, I'd DEMAND custody of all of the parodies you've written for me, and you'd be left, shamefully, with only half of your current discography. ; )

Hey there Arwen...I know this one's a couple weeks old already, but I hadn't had very much internet access during the month of September, so I didn't get a chance to see this yet. Anyways, I think this was a very interesting composition; I didn't actually have a "crush" on these guys back then, but I did have some fondness for them. And now, 20 years later, I still like to listen to their music. :)

Before I forget, I must place my vote of 5-5-5!! =)

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I love it! My favorite lines included "pink lipgloss on baby" and "So Fast he almost drove me crazy, So Furious he made me scream." SO brilliant! I had a very similar crush on John Bon Jovi as a youngster.

Did you know that C.C. was on the last Surreal Life? He was great!

Ash...Damn the fact that I don't watch reality television. I haven't seen Mr. DeVille since his Unskinny Boppin' days...I'm so disappointed! Thanks a million for stopping by...
