The Lyrics

Grandma got anointed in the Spirit,
At a Pentecostal service Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Jesus,
But as for me and my house, we believe.

The church was advertising revival,
So we begged Grandma to go.
She left behind her medication,
And she joined the whole family to watch the show.

The preacher laid his hands on Grandma,
Then she fell right to the floor.
She opened her eyes and saw the glory,
And the first thing that she said right there was "More!"

Grandma got anointed in the Spirit,
At a Pentecostal service Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Jesus,
But as for me and my house, we believe.

We were all so proud of Grandpa,
He'd been taking it so well.
Fell to his knees upon conviction
As he confessed all his sins that lead to Hell.

But things just aren't the same with Grandma.
All her friends were taken aback,
And they couldn't help but wonder,
Should they still be sending her gifts or take them back?
(Take them back?)

Grandma got anointed in the Spirit,
At a Pentecostal service Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Jesus,
But as for me and my house, we believe.

She's now invited to the Lord's table,
To eat the bread and drink the wine.
People now say she's acting bonkers,
But she says it's the first time she felt alive.

I warn all my friends and neighbors,
Do not doubt this for yourselves.
You should never question a miracle
That could save a weary soul from going to Hell.

Grandma got anointed in the Spirit,
At a Pentecostal service Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Jesus,
But as for me and my house, we believe.

the pacing was slightly off and it wasn't mega-funny but I do like the message always remember the reason for the season! 4's

Clever in a lot of ways, but like Jonathan said, the pacing was off. With a little retooling and some humor, this could have been a riot. Otherwise, a good read of your write.

Pacing tip: Count out all the syllables in each line, then make sure your line has the same # of syllables. If the song is fairly long or complex, I'll make a list of the lines and syllable count on a scratch sheet of paper .... And understand that your lines don't have to be complete, grammatically correct sentences because original song lyrics aren't always that way. You can leave out personal pronouns. You can use sentence fragments; you can even stuff two disparate sentence fragments into one line and separate them with a semi-colon. Learned that trick from some of the Amiright masters
