The Lyrics

Newsweek, the once-popular now-defunct print magazine which still maintains a diminished presence on line, has a history of deifying President Obama. In 2009, Evan Thomas solemnly declared that the President was "like God". In 2012, Newsweek's cover portayed Obama with a rainbow-colored halo around his head. This, however, was tame compared Newsweek's latest cover. It proclaims Obama's new term to be "The Second Coming". I guess many people (atheists and secular progressives for example) do not find this treatment blasphemous. But when a supposedly non-biased "news" magazine (and the overwhelming majority of all media) stoops to such idolatry, perhaps it IS a sign of the impending apocalypse. ;D

The cover of Newsweek
Has reached a new low
In deification
Of President O.
In past they've compared him to God.
His praise they sing.
Now his second term you'll hear them laud
As "The Second Coming".
The "Second Coming!"

O.!

He's more than Jehovah
And Allah as well.
Our godhead's Obama.
We're under his spell.
So pass out the holy Kool-Aid -
It's our offering.
And join us in our accolade:
It's "The Second Coming!"
That's what we're drumming,
As you we're numbing.

Kneel...to...O.!

He's THE messiah! (Our O.!)
Folks of faith? Pariah!
More than the Maya!
O.'s not papaya!

O.!

It's "The Second Coming!".
To O. be all glory!
We'll all be bumming!
Stamp out the right
Use the Reps for "chumming"!
It's "The Second Coming!"

Whoa!

There is a nice dividend in writing parodies of the pop music from the last thirty years. In researching the lyrics, meter and rhyme for the sake of accuracy. I'm discovering a whole new universe of music which I have previously overlooked. ;D

Maybe the big O's pay grade will go up and give us a definitive answer 'bout in his view when a baby gets human rights...but I doubt it

Newsweek has been a dog for several years now, so a 'Mussolini/Christ' amalgamation of Obama isn't too surprising. Being a lefty myself, I thought it was a crap cover. Personally, I enjoyed the June 13, 2011 cover, it was so cheerful.

The Phelps Klan was at the inaugural carrying signs "Obama = Antichrist". Which proves anyone can be right at least once.
