Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

In some guitar magazine's recent poll, "Sweet Child O' Mine" was voted the greatest guitar riff of all time. I'm surprised "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" wasn't in the Top Ten.
There's "Voodoo Chile" by Jimi Hendrix
And "Back in Black" by AC/DC
Where on the list
Is Cream's song, "Sunshine of Your Love"?
Boy, oh boy, it's such a disgrace
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida's not
On the top
Which song was at the top?
The one with the distorted cry

Oh, oh, oh, oh.... "Sweet Child O' Mine"
Greatest Guitar Riff of All Time

"Smoke on the Water," "Teen Spirit"
Rage Against the Machine
The Queens of the Stone Age and that
"Layla" song by Clapton
"Master of Puppets"
And "Enter Sandman" yaaaayyy!
"Paranoid," "Who Lotta Love"
I don't know the others
Or those ones
That Didn't make the cut

Oh, oh, oh, oh.... "Sweet Child O' Mine"
Greatest Guitar Riff of All Time

("Crying" guitar solo that lasts about two minutes)

"The Ace of Spades"?
"Stairway to Heaven"?
"Crazy Train"? Noooo!
"Sweet Child o' Mine"!!!!!!!

Great parody, but personally, Metallica and Nirvana shouldn't be on that list.....

Guns & Roses is more like Guns & No Talent Roses - pretty much every one of "their" songs is a remake. Anything other than the oldies stinks.

No mention of Chuck Berry? Scotty Moore? Bo Diddley? Tommy Tedesco? James Burton? Robert White? (That's Robert of Motown Records, not Jack of the Stripes, though also of Detroit.) Keith Richards? Pete Townshend? Ray Davies? Lou Reed? Joe Walsh? And, oh yeah, George Bloody Harrison? In the words of the immortal Harry Truman, "The only new thing in the world is the history you don't know."

I think the pacing was all right. It was just at the end where it didn't seem to match. Overall it was pretty good, so I'll vote 5-4-4.

Good parody, and Aaron Dodson, try finding a brain, okay? Guns N No Talent Roses, hmm? Get your facts straight and go pick on someone who really does suck like new found glory, yellowcard, or something...

I thought this was the best sweet child parody on this site. Oh, and Aaron Dodson, if GnR are so crap, why are they remembered as one of the greatest rock n roll bands of all time? They only have one albumn of covers, and 2 covers on their other albumns. So go pick on somebody like Yellowcard.

Guns n roses are awesome, Slash is AWESOME and sexy... Nirvan are good, but an Avarage pub musician would probably have more talent than kurt cobain, Jump by Van Halen is an aweosme song.... Eddie Van Halen is like god, seriously! Layla by 'Clapton is good.... I LOVE BON JOVI though and Richie Sambora is a great guitarist! Bblack Sabbath paranoid has a great riff, Smoke on Water by Deep purple, yay I can play that on my guitar :) And of course the unforgetable Stairway to Heaven..Rock on Jimmy Page,...

Is it "Voodoo Chile" or "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)"?
jen - March 10, 2007 - Report this comment
The reason Guns N' Roses did so many covers is cause the other guys wrote those songs wrong and somebody had to do them right. Slash is absolutely astounding. I'm surprised that people have the nerve to parody any of their stuff...it seems kinda demeaning. anyway you raised a valid point about some of the other tunes. good work.
