Parody Song Title:

"Power Ballad... (A loan)"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I hear the ticking of the clock
The power's cut the room's pitch dark
I wonder what I'll eat tonight
No credit on the telephone
And the fire burns so very low
'Cause the final stump lies there aglow
Alone

'Till now I always paid my bills on my own
My flat I've never shared but now I have to
And now they'll disconnect my phone
What I need is a loan
How do I get me a loan?

You don't know how long I have wanted
To buy some chips... switch on my light, oh
The scooter's petrol tank is empty
So I won't get to work tonight
These power bills I've clearly shown
Are the reason why my budget's blown
I need a loan

'Till now I always paid my bills on my own
My flat I've never shared but now I have to
And now they'll disconnect my phone
How do I get me a loan?
How do I get me a loan?

How do I get me a loan?
How do I get me a loan?
A loan! A loan!

OK guys, I can understand someone maybe not finding this funny and not giving it a great overall score but hey, ANYONE who doesn't give this a 5/5 for pacing OBVIOUSLY has NO IDEA of the original lyric. Just because yo may consider one of the 3 categories low doesn't mean they are all low. I challenge anyone to find a more accurately scanned and rhymed parody ANYWHERE on this site. If you pass judgement, then at least be informed enough to judge.

What a wonderful parody! Hardly changed the words, completely different (and funny) meaning. And check out the title... Without the song even the title alone is is a pun!

People may not like your topic nor your bad grammar- How do I get me a loan? So funny and overall scores can drag you down. Most will just 1-1-1 you. 1s being unfavorable and 5s being favorable. Or are you that dense?

Wow, this little parody garnered 31 555s and 11 111s in a week?!! That is soooooo incredible that it defies logic. Lots and lots and lots people must really be really divided over the quality of this work. Please help me, I am bleeding sarcasm via every orifice right now.

What a very odd comment.

It just means someone links the URL to another site, email friends, etc...

Well this most interesting. I return to find this cryptic stuff about my only ever submission to this site and find that people think I might be linking it to other people. All I can say is that this is absolute nonsense. I don't even have a Facebook account and nobody in my circle even knows I put this up here. I am not a technical person and even if I were I couldn't care less to try and get people to like or vote for me. I shan't be adding any more of my work here (I only just discovered the site last week) if these wankers with sour grapes about my lyrics cant accept that there might be some talent, apart from themselves, out there.

A little context here. Generally, first time submitters are completely ignored here, so the average score would be about 3. Al I can say about this parody is that it's not that bad, which means you should have gotten at most 4 thumbs up. So when we see 32 attaboys, which is exceedingly rare in the year 2017, we know something is up.
Graham Roberts - September 30, 2017 - Report this comment
Well to say that you KNOW something is up is totally absurd. Like I said, I have told NOBODY whatsoever. Good luck to all of you pitiful losers. You won't be hearing anything from me in the future.

You're absolutely right, Graham Roberts. I apologize on behalf of what's left of this "community". I wish you'd arrived here 10 years or so ago; it was fantastic. And your parody is very good, but you know that. For the record, I believe you're not the one responsible for deleting your cookies and voting fives multiple times. Who is? No idea. There's one particular user here who's been allowed to run rampant for years and you're just the latest he's successfully driven away. His parodies suck ass so he jealously attacks anyone who gets positive feedback. There are still a few good people here, and sometimes they try to counter his activities. But you're doing the right thing by running far away from this place, which I would do too, if I weren't so sentimental about how it used to be. Oh, and this is all assuming you're actually new to the site. Since there's no registration system in place, anyone can pretend to be someone else at any time, which leads to all sorts of idiotic anonymous behavior (like this comment I'm making right now, for example). Anyway, good luck to you and best wishes.

I think there's been a misunderstanding here. There's absolutely nothing wrong with linking your parody to other people, friends and family, on social media or whatever, asking them to vote and comment. Not that anyone seems to ever do that on their first parody or six months here or whatever period someone thinks about themself as a newbie - I guess it's more common to wanna have feedback from other parody writers on the site first before taking that step - and by the time people find themselves cut out for this particular hobby they normally don't change their now working MO and start linking anyway. But like I said, had you actually linked it to the outside world like some people speculated above because of the unusually high total number of votes there would have been nothing wrong with that - nothing wrong at all IMHO!

My best advice is that if you keep writing do whatever the hell you want to get your friends to surf in here and comment, because comments are these days worth more than votes and it's hard for a newbie to get attention at the start from the vets (like everyone else with a job and a life we have limited time to spend on the site, so we normally look first for new material from those we already know). I'd even go so far as to say that the voting scale has outlived its use, even without the arrival of the troll (or trolls) that repeatedly puts 111 or 222 on EVERYTHING for reasons that only trolls can understand. There's probably no such thing as a totally conflict-free community on the net these days, why should this be any different? Just learn to ignore negative votes and negative comments and write the songs you wanna write for the love of the creative process.

We think you should do another parody Graham. It's way too early to give in to bad ratings and trolls.

The author of the parody has authorized comments, and wants YOUR feedback.
