The Lyrics

It's my 300th parody... so i decided to do something somewhat special. This is a parody of the song that was #1 in the USA the day i was born - July 22, 1982. Like the original there are two different points of view in each half of the song.
I was walking through the hallway in your freshman dorm
When I smelt that
If freaked me out, I had to run
To track your room down
Felt we really had to chat

I find its plain why your
Room has a horrible smell
I guess you somehow need me to say
In case you could not tell
Sweaty clothes blanket the ground
That's something you should fix today

Do, do your laundry
You know I really mean it
Your room really needs a cleaning
Do, do your laundry
It's totally not neat you
Must have lots of trouble breathing

It must've been eight weeks
Since you've cleaned up you freak
I bet your room has rats
That smell might choke your hallmates

Do your laundry, Lazy
Do your laundry, Bum
Do your laundry, Lazy
Do your laundry, Bum

I've been shirking obligations like cleaning my room
I guess you're right
But who the hell are you why should I care if you say
That my room's a grueling sight

I'm fine here in this mess
Since my nose is stuffed
But if you care
I know something that might
Make this smell like a room should
Although you might not think it's fair

Do, Do my laundry
I hope you do not leave it
'Til I get another beating
Do, do my laundry
I act like I don't need to
But in fact right now I'm pleading

I'd love to make things clean
But can't use the machines
It's because of the fact
That I am out of money

Do my laundry, aid me
Do my laundry please
Do my laundry, aid me
Do my laundry, please

Do my laundry, aid me
Do my laundry please
Do my laundry, aid me
Do my laundry, please

Gave you the benefit of a slight doubt on pacing; I really don't remember Human League that well. Best parody of this song so far and very clever to keep it as a dialogue like the original.

(ABC) The Human League had a really funny sound - especially funny because I don't think they were trying to be funny - definitely not as funny as this clever parody! Good job, Ethan.

You brightened up an extremely tedious song, Ethan. Good job!

(ABC) Ethan, this was excellent, one of your better songs. Great title and opening line!

That... was... great...! Might have been a few pacing issues, but I'd never really heard the song, and it was worth it in humor anyway. 5s.

Having lived in the dorms, I can relate with both sides of this. Fave line: "Must have lots of trouble breathing."

And please forgive the utter music-geekiness of my pointing this out, E-thang, but the #1 song in the US for the week ending 7/24/82 was actually "Eye of the Tiger." "Don't You Want Me" was #1 for the three weeks prior to that. (Sorry - I know that's kinda like finding out you had a different father.) But I see you've also parodied "Eye of the Tiger" - I'll check that out next.
