Parody Song Title:

"It's Cleveland Or Not"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The temptation for Grover Cleveland is to do Roy Orbison's "It's Over" as "It's Grover," or the Rolling Stones' "It's All Over Now" as "It's All Grover Now." Actually, the real temptation is to do "Billie Jean," except he let everyone think that the kid really was his son, even though he might not have been. With no apologies to George Costanza, author of the answering-machine message, "Believe it or not, George isn't at home..."
Look at what's happened right here
Here in 1884.
Somebody better get on top of this mess.
Our land just can't take any more.

It's Cleveland or Blaine, a choice that ain't fair!
Corrupt in business, or love that's free-ee-ee!
Lying in Maine, or with widows and bare?
Who will it be?
It's Cleveland if it's up to me!

We see some light from this new guy.
And his real pretty wife too.
Showing the Senate who's the boss around here
but he needs a term number two!

It's Cleveland or Benjamin Harrison!
The only living Dem or the GOP!
New Yorker or Indiana's son?
Who will it be?
It's Cleveland, oh, no, it can't be!

It's Cleveland beating old Ben Harrison!
An ex-President that goes back to D.C.!
Everyone thought old Grover was done!
How could it be?
It's Cleveland again, you all see!

It's Cleveland again, but he ain't doin' well!
The railroad workers on strike, silver ain't free!
Jobs gone away, nothing left to sell!
Bryan, not he!
And now it's William McKinley!

Here's a set of three 5's just so this parody doesn't remain The Greatest Amirightian Zero.

Good parody, Michael, but I don't think you give your subject enough credit. Grover Cleveland, the last good Democrat president, was probably the last classical liberal (i.e., libertarian, not modern paternalistic liberal) to occupy the White House. If bills did not conform to the constitution, he vetoed them. When powerful constituencies objected, he told them to elect someone else. He actually stayed up late reading the text of the bills he was given to sign or veto. When he talked about compassion, he meant a personal virtue, not the government’s dispersing other people’s money. His opposition to pork barrel spending and his commitment to reforming government seem amazingly sane, but beyond the comprehension of twentieth and twenty first century presidents.
