The Lyrics
Each supercritter means one less
Politician left to be slayed
Each year gone through means one or two
Less mistakes remain to be made
Not much is known
Of early supercritterdom 'fore a vague report
That seventy years ago two swampers fought
Though neighbors, over a birthday cake
Their father cried
For he did not like their offspring fighting to the death
He begged them to stop the fracas with his every breath
But sure enough Albert had won
Sad beyond belief
He told this favorite son
You have caused such grief
I can't forgive
This evil thing you've done
He tried to explain
How things had really been
But he tried in vain
No words of his
Could soothe dear Bumbazine
And in this fight
A superpowered possum entered into the fray
The one who was the object of said birthday
His name was Pogo and he went and saved the day
The Supercritter had arrived
The next Supercritter was Crusader Rabbit who showed up in Texas
Way Out West
Then Up in Minnesota
Rocky and Bullwinkle did their best
Still further yet
In Cleveland Howard the Duck was on his way
He was the next Supercritter and he begat a son in Hollywood
His name was Roger
A Rabbit who also went by the name of Captain Carrot and
He introduced the initial hero's sons
Pith Possum and Obadiah
Where we must report
Three more showed up
On Joseph Campbell's door
They-the brothers Bone-
He never had any Supercritters before
And in Britain two
Supercritters had made their presence felt
Dangermouse and Penfold
Started offering their fellow Britons help
And in the end we see an
Archetype that started by mistake in the Okefenokee Swamp
And flourished in the main in what is Frosbite Falls
Become the very sort of sentient
Being who
Could possibly pose
The worst kind of question a politician could have feared to ask
