Parody Song Title:

"Open Bar"

Parody Written by:

Jeff Reuben

The Lyrics

Coasters and barstools, light rum or dark
Bottles of champagne and wine
Sadly you whisper, "I need a beer,
But I haven't even...a dime."

The bartender smiles,
Looks up with a start
And places a brew by my side

So now I come to you, on open bar!
Liquor in sight, and nothing to pay
Now, beer in hand, an open bar
Hoping to see, that the wedding will be...open bar

Wedding reception, garters and rice
Raising our glasses to toast
Wanting a cold brew, wanting a beer!
I don't know how I'll get home

But if they have planned right--
A keg at each table
I think I can stay...

So now I come to you, an open bar
Beast or Beast Light, and tipping's okay
Now beer in hand, at open bar
Hoping to see, that the wedding will be...open bar

(ABC) Especially funny thinking of the original song's lead vocalist's plaintive wail of "...with ooooooooopen aaaaarms!! " being switched to "open bar" !

Sounds like a dream to me, too... I can hear Steve Perry singing this :-)

Pretty good, although I can barely remember how the song itself goes, still good.

Hahaha I love it. I don't drink, but just the idea of someone with Steve Perry's voice belting out "...ooooooooppppppeeennnn baaaaarrrrr" is too funny! Definitely an ode to wedding season that I can see drunkenly sung by guests on the dance floor. Well done!

Surprised that I never commented on this parody because I know that I read it before. It's a classic from your collection and a hilarious twist on the topic and song.

Hi Jeff. Oldy moldy parody readings are fun!

(Artistry) I agree with Abbott that the combo of the OS and the parody itself matches so epically I can even stop laughing! Just wow!

I could go for a drink right now, 555 pint worth.

(Artistry) Sorry to be the lone dissenter, but this didn't really click with me. Pacing was fine, but there wasn't any amusing drunken antics, the wedding theme seemed tacked on and I had to look up what an open bar actually is (that's kinda on me, I guess, but still). I'm glad everyone else had fun, but I'm just lost and left out. Kinda like how I'd be at an open bar, seeing as how I don't drink ;)
