The Lyrics

The 3rd entry in my AmIRight Tribute Series. Don't be disappointed if your tribute doesn't appear as soon as you'd like, It's not that I don't want to, it's that I can't figure out what OS to use. Well, here's to Won!
Writing a new spoof to send today
Reading the new ones tonight
Soon I will come to one by the Farce
Expert here on AmIRight

When I have a child, I'll tell him "My son"
"There's no one at all like Won"

So now I write to you, sir Airfarcewon
Your spoofs are great, the songs make my day
So here's to you, sir Airfarcewon
Hoping you'll see what your farce means to me
Airfarcewon

I never doubt you, you're number 4 *
Your parody's great for sure
Ate all the macr'oons **, drank all the beer ***
"Al G. ****" had LOLs in store

And now, when you come back
To write some more songs
Please check out this one

So now I write to you, sir Airfarcewon
Don't worry, my girl hates Elton John! *****
So here's to you, sir Airfarcewon
Hoping you'll see what your farce means to me
Airfarcewon
* Site rank No. 4 ** "Buy Me Macaroons" *** "Through the Beers" **** "Al G." ***** "Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Wed Elton". BTW, I don't have a daughter, mainly because of my age. Next on the tribute series: TO BE ANNOUNCED! Probably either Andria, Christie Marie M, Mark Scotti, or EmiLoca.

A fine tribute to a fine parodist. Couldn't have said it better myself. 5-5-5

Keep them coming, DJ. And I share your opinion of AFW. ;D
Andria - July 29, 2009 - Report this comment
Great one, DJ. I think AFW is pretty cool too, and he and I were kind of an item if you know what I mean a couple of years ago. I don't know if that's still the case. And FYI, I know most of the old-timey and show-tune OSs from listening to old records, which is a hobby of mine. 5s.
Mark Scotti - July 29, 2009 - Report this comment
Hat's off to a wonderful writer! Great job!
DJ Blaze - July 29, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks to everyone!
AFW: You're welcome, AFW. I am a big fan and I had to somehow show you my appreciation. (besides giving you straight 5s.)
Fiddlegirl: Thanks, and great to see you're a fellow Won fan.
Blackjack: You couldn't have said it better yourself? Wow, thanks!
Old Man Ribber: Thanks, and don't worry, I'm not gonna stop anytime soon!
Andria: Thanks, and what do you mean by an item?
Scotti: Thanks, and I agree, he is a wonderful writer!

DJ, he seemed to have a crush on me.

Andria, I get it now. And thanks, MadameDeNorCAL, for your comment and 5s glorifying sir L'arc~en~Ciel, oops, I mean Sir L'Air de Farce.

Great tribute to our (pronounced AIR) premiere storyteller, currently residing on the corner of Prodigious Skill and Stupendous Volume!

Great tribute to one of AmIRight's renowned parody artist! He's best known for writing songs of humorous content and I also dig his show tunes based parodies, his taste for country music, and Frank Sinatra! I think him and Tommy Turtle share the same taste in music as well when they write their parodies! I also enjoyed the comments he made on two of my parodies. Perfect song to choose for AF1's tribute! 5's!

Thanks to TJC and Christie! And BTW, I'd like to add Guy DiRito and TT to my list of tributes.

SOTM: Pretty good, nice OS choice...it just didn't seem that funny to me. 545.
DJ Blaze - August 10, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks, Abbott! I agree this wasn't my funniest parody.
Medemia - August 12, 2009 - Report this comment
It is hard to make tribute songs funny but this was quite fitting. There really is no one like Won.us
Mark Scotti - August 12, 2009 - Report this comment
SOTM - As I wrote earlier, great tribute effort to a wonderful writer...
DJ Blaze - August 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks to both of you, Medemia and Mark again!

DJ - You were not sparse with your tribute to the Farce. I belong to his fan club. Well done Caleb.
DJ Blaze - August 15, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks, Guy! And I voted you 3rd Place in SOTM.
Guy - August 15, 2009 - Report this comment
DJ - I know and I thank you. It's just a matter of principle with me that I do not vote points in contests for tribute parodies. A lot of writers don't even like tributes - I don't have a problem with them but they don't belong in a comp. I think you will learn as you compete what works and what does not. Your parody was very good and I did vote you 5's on this page.
DJ Blaze - August 16, 2009 - Report this comment
Guy: Thanks for teaching me this valuable lesson. I'm almost 100% sure my parody will be the "Honorable Mention" of this month's comp. (Meaning it got 0 points.)
Guy - August 16, 2009 - Report this comment
DJ - Don't write it off yet - sometimes these comps. will surprise you. It takes a while to be able to compete well in these contests, after all you are being judged by your peers who happen to be some of the very best satirists on the planet.
DJ Blaze - August 16, 2009 - Report this comment
Guy - Of course! I'm nowhere near the best, and I'm going up against the best. But still, I think just entering was a good way to get feedback. Next time, however, I will NOT enter a tribute. (No offense to anyone I tribute, though.)
Peter Andersson - August 21, 2009 - Report this comment
I'm not against tribute parodies per se (how could I since I have a few under my own belt) but I generally don't vote for them in the SOTM because to me a SOTM winner criteria is that a song in this special cream de la cream comp should preferably be enjoyable right away to anyone outside Amiright too.
DJ Blaze - August 21, 2009 - Report this comment
I perfectly understand, Pete. I will enter SOTM August, though, this time with something other than a tribute.
Matthias - August 22, 2009 - Report this comment
I'm a big fan of AFW's work as well so I too like to see a tribute about him, but tributes don't tend to do well in SOTM just because they're so site specific. Still this was a great shout out to a great writer.
DJ Blaze - August 22, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks, Matthias! I've learned this lesson well.

(SOTM) There is a certain art to writing a tribute parody. Well, "an art" in my case means "don't make it too brown-nosing". For this one, you've passed. AFW's done some awesome stuff and is well deserving of a cool tribute, and I'm commenting on it! 555
Below Average Dave - August 31, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) It's a good tribute, unfortunately tributes don't tend to place in the song of the month because they are rarely over the top funny, but they certainly have their place, great job with the rhyme scheme and pacing, it shows kind of a screen shot of what we can expect from you in the future, welcome to contests DJ Blaze, certainly hope you continue in this and other contests indefinitely.
Phil Alexander - August 31, 2009 - Report this comment
As some tenacious chap might say: this is not the best song in the world, this is just a tribute.. (..and for a truly absurdly funny tribute song, see Claude's tribute to, well, himself: http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/disney1.shtml)

Bob: Thanks! I think I do good on tribs. Below Average Dave: Thanks, and I have entered other contests, I plan to do the Decathlon. Phil: I'll check that one out. Thanks!
