The Lyrics

This song was originally going to be about how its become almost cliche to sing this song ANYWHERE without someone joinging in, but instead I just limited it to drunken karoke singers. Original Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDY2I5pni90
There's a drunken girl
Gonna give this song a whirl
It's karaoke night
At the local bar
Songs that folks enjoy
Seem to always get destroyed
You bring bystanders pain
When you go up there

After many drinks that you consume
You pick a song that fills the room
For a while, you're feeling alright
You go on and on and on and on

Strangers join in
Come in off the boulevard
They're stray cats wailing
In the night
Random people
Singing with the folks around them
Wasted, singing through the night

Bon Jovi and GnR
Then some Journey fills the bar
Stumbling along till the part they like
They lose their minds
Some will win
All will lose
Sob'ring up? Just add more booze
Oh, this song, it never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers join in
Come in off the boulevard
They're stray cats wailing
In the night
Random people
Singing with the folks around them
Wasted, singing through the night

Please stop your singing
Leave this song to Journey
Seriously people
Please stop your singing
Come on
Please stop, people
Please stop your singing
Leave this song to Journey
Seriously people

First and foremost, great job. Drunken female karaoke singing IS improving...a gang of intoxicated ladies used to sing Love Shack. Now they've moved on to Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks. ;D

True story: 2008 Stanley Cup Finals, the Detroit Red Wings are 30 seconds away from winning the Cup. The sound-effects guy at Joe Louis Arena blasts this song, and all 20,000 fans shout the line, "Born and raised in South Detroit!" (Which, as anybody with access to a map can tell you, is... Windsor, Ontario, Canada.) And right after play starts, the Pittsburgh Penguins score, and tie it up, and go on to win in overtime. The Wings won the next game to take the Cup, anyway. Still, it's the kind of thing that should make one think carefully about using the song.

Excellent! So many times I've seen drunks doing karaoke with this Journey song, "Mountain Music" by Alabama (you oughta see how some drunken men "act out" the "shouting" bit at the song's fade-out), Pink Floyd, U2, Sir Paul McCartney, Marvin Gaye, Sinatra and other star classics we all know and they totally DESTROY the music. American Idol contestants also do that all the time. Let's leave a good thing alone. Can you write a parody called "Let's Trash the Karaoke Machine"? That would be real cool. Just like this parody you wrote here. 5s across the board!

Great idea because this is one of the most karaoked songs in the history of karaoke. This and I think "You're the one that I want" are up there. I'm surprised that this one isn't on Karaoke Revolution... Or maybe it is and I don't remember but this was a very funny one!

I won't stop believin' this was a very good parody (although I wished you didn't repeat that 2nd chorus). 555

I heard this song many times and I never really get why people liked it, I mean it's kind of generic so I never get the appeal. This leads to being a popular subject at the karaoke bar.

(Artistry) I was just at a karaoke bar last night and both these songs were done. "You're the One That I Want" twice! This is by far my favorite Journey song and I thought it was a really great idea to take this song and flip it to satire itself. Smart move. Very funny!

This song struck a chord with me as I love frequenting karaoke bars (and always hear this OS). Perfect song choice and great writing.

(Artistry) Pretty decent parody, but the repeated chorus (Or is it verse? Pre-chorus? This song has a weird structure) and occasional mishaps bring it down a bit. Also, no mention of "Summer Nights"? That last note is premium terrible karaoke material. Anyway, yeah, 555 but lacking in polish.
