The Lyrics

I have no hope that this will make a president's precedent in favour of it, and personally I don't think it is or should be a crime, but because of the way the R.I.A.A has managed to lobby the American government into going after their own file sharing citizens and also to put pressure on European governments to crack down on the same it came as a total shock to me when president George W Bush himself accidentally came out of the closet as a pirate! By his own words he has Beatles songs on his iPod, something you can't get legally from any downloading platform including iTunes, and ripping your own legally purchased CD's is also against the law in the US! Alas the president is both a pirate and a criminal, read all about it (and see the confessional video) here:

A YouTube version of the original song can currently be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYn5hxeFt10
There he was with iPod chilling, said it was his own
All inside was golden oldies as he worked his list on down
Guess he thought nobody knew that it's based on crime
Had he been another man he'd best prepare to do some time

Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law

So much for song files by Beatles, they don't come online!
And if ripped ol' Dubya's crooked, R.I.A.A slam a fine!
Did he know that he stole? Did he have a clue?
If he did I'll say it's fair we do the same thing too!

Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law

For the songs that he like!

Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law
Breaking the law, breaking the law

Personal Note to the One Guy - April 09, 2008 - Report this comment
There is of course a large chunk of irony/satire in any news rapport or blog post you can find on this story, and I deliberately went with a source that took it far beyond any risk of misunderstandings in this area. I'm also aware that the legality of making mp3s are still under question in the US. However, being on the other side of the pond where RIAA holds meetings with European governements and the EU itself, sometimes with the aid of American diplomatic channels and personel, does make the RIAA standpoints as close to official American foreign policy as you can get, and hence from the viewpoint over here it might just as well be the law and the story makes a valid point in showing how absurd RIAAs actions and interpretations of that law are.

It's not really a mocking of Bush (though with election year polarisation over on your side I can understand the reflex to believe soo), more like a mocking of the RIAA inability to accept 21:th century technology and its everyday use for average people by showing that not even the most powerful man in the world, surrounded by dozens of lawyers to give him daily advice, can live in accordance to what they want the law to be. :-)

Nice one, Peter :-) Didn't realize that ripping your own CDs for personal use isn't legal t'other side of the pond. You learn something new every day...
UnKnownVotress - just as long as it's not photos of Bo Duke..
