The Lyrics

I learned to do alpine skiing when I was nine, and I skied actively till my twenties (we had a slope close our home). This winter I picked up the activity again...
There I was at top of the hill planning to ski down
Last time did it years ago and I admit I frowned
Feeling I might do a wipeout and get maimed or die
So I might as well begin to put some action in my life

Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones

So I bit the bullet and I pushed the poles for speed
I went downhill fast as bullet and did my skills exceed
Then came bump and I went flying, fifty feet or so -
Found myself against a tree in the thigh-deep snow

You don't know what it's like, you don't have a clue
If you did you'd find yourselves doing the same thing too

Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones

You don't know what it's like!!
(ambulance sounds)
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones

Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones
Breaking the bones, breaking the bones

Sounds like you are attracted to dangerous hobbies. Just be careful. Don't break the fingers you use for typing.

Let's say that my skydiving last Autumn made me to pick up skiing again. It is something I did as a child, and I re-found the joy on skiing. My first try after almost twenty years was indeed something like that (fortunately not so badly as in this song), but little by little all those skills stored somewhere in the muscular memory came back. My leg muscles have gained strength as result.

It is not that I was attracted to dangerous hobbies, but they are attracted to me - and to our kids. It runs in our family.

I wear earplugs when I play with fireworks. And go to movies. Have worn seat belts before they were required by law.
