"Moria"
The Lyrics
The world was young and new
when Dwarven time had come
Under the stars they walked
before the Moon and Sun
And Durin was their king
he looked at Mirrormere
he saw the seven stars
and golden crown was there
The Khazad-Dum he'd found
he was the king of Deep
A kingdom underground
with jewels, gold a heap
undimmed by cloud or night
was light of crystal lamps
this cavern ever bright -
known by the Elves as Moria -
(solo)
When kings of Gondolin -
and Nargothrond they fell
The Durin's folk did thrive
and beat the Orcs to Hell
And Second Age the Rings
The Elven-Smiths created
and doors of Khazad-Dum
with mithril decorate
But Dwarves, they dug too deep
they found a horror new
they woke a balrog up
who Dwarven king, he slew
In came the Orcish host
And mayhem soon was loose
the fight Dwarves dearly cost
deep in the kingdom of Moria -
(solo)
So Third Age was due
And Balin tried to take
The Dwarven kingdom old
But his plans, oh. they fell through..
...in Moria!
But now the years have passed
and Balrog, he was slain
And Gandalf freed the place
for dwarves to inhabitate -
The happy days are there again!
...in Moria!
