The Lyrics

If the UK ever moved into the EU, this is most likely what would happen. the head of it controlling us.
Good morning Brown, need a word with you
With reference to the E.U
Im your big boss now do as I say or you'll be kicked out here today
The list of rules, to be reviewed now
Ms Maggie Thatcher, she may start to row
Increase council tax and income tax, Sir have you seen my filofax?

Welcome to the House Of Lords now I rule UK
Welcome to the House Of Lords
Welcome to the backbenchers they know sweet F.A.
Welcome to the House Of Lords

NNNNo, no sir, you almost forgot
10 Downing Street, top hat and overcoat
I love to rule on a day to day so if you listen and obey.

Welcome to the House Of Lords now I rule UK
Welcome to the backbenchers they know sweet F.A.
Welcome to the House Of Lords

Im sorry Hague, but we don't let
Conservatives make a mess
Try the House Of Lords, your name is on their boards,
This is the pits not the Parliament,

Westminster, for the filthy rich
So tax them more sorry, but lifes a bitch
The Conservatives, with their stupid Hague
Don't talk to them sorry, their minds are vague
Well hello Bush hello sir Blair
your Government is lacking flair

Welcome to the House Of Lords now I rule UK
Welcome to the House Of Lords
Welcome to the backbenchers they know sweet F.A.
Welcome to the House Of Lords

Welcome to the House Of Lords now I rule UK
Welcome to the House Of Lords
Welcome to the backbenchers they know sweet F.A.
Welcome to the House Of Lords

(Fairground sound at the end)

I was always disappointed that the 'House Of Mirth' movie didn't use Madness's original! I can just picture the Members Of Parliament doing the dance in the House Of Lords!

(SOTM) Too bad I'm not that well-versed on U.K. politics to get most of the references. But well paced.

(SOTM) DKTOS, American, and only know one Madness song, "Our House." I thought this was gonna be a parody of "Our House", and maybe that can be the sequel to this parodic masterpiece. I loved the title sub when I eventually found out TOS. 555

(SOTM) Madness doesn't get the parody treatment all that often, so kudos for the song choice. I thought it was just a little too repetitive. A little variation in the chorus would help. 544

SOTM - British xenofobia is on the tangent of madness so I'll give you kudos for the choice of song, but "house of blondes" would have been much funnier methinks.

Good.

(SOTM) very clever Jason - good choice of OS for the theme, and even better choice of theme - a hypothetical political parody no less - should be more of them - 555

(SOTM) DKTOS, and political parodies never really get to me, but good effort nonetheless.

SOTM - Interesting choice for a parody. Your subject rather sounds like a bit of a circus, which fits well with the background music of the OS. It's not my favorite, but it works.

I enjoyed this, but now I'm going to sound really mean: it could have been a lot more politically coherent - kind of a political scattergun, I was never exactly sure who/what your intended target was. IMO, to work properly, political satire needs to be well-focussed on its target. But a worthwhile bash, nonetheless.

(SOTM). . .Well Jason, you are becoming more of a regular here at the site, in fact, I wonder--between us who's been around longer? I'm not sure, interesting. . anyhow. . .I have to admit I've liked some of your other work better than this one ,politics are not easy. . .and the target was necessary--but it's--well--it's wasn't bad. . .

I'm pretty much in agreement with Phil, Jase. Some great lines, e.g. the Hague/vague couplet, but it needs something to tie it all together. Good try anyway, matey! 544

Pretty good, but IMO Madness=Our House, they sure liked doing house songs. 5s

SOTM - Really catchy choice of OS, and it fits well, but I agree with several previous comments that it would help if it were better focused.
