I agree. Even thought I favor the right, I favor the first amendment more. Steve seems to be pushed so far to the right that he gives the appearance of favoring fascism. These rights work like this:

I have the right to swing my fist. The right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins. We can write or say whatever we like except things like yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theatre when there is no fire. For someone to impose their will to dictate what can and cannot be expressed amounts to the same thing. No one has the right to punish another for their expression, especially when they have not done something like screamed 'fire' in a crowded theatre. I do not see this occurring at all in Tim's parody.

No one hates Jehovah's witnesses as people. Most think their tactics of preaching are questionable. To go to a persons home uninvited is rude! Religion should be taught by example . Their approch seems as cheesy as a telephone marketing.

Hi folks! I am a frequent visitor of this site, eveen thuogh im not much of a parody writer. Let me first clarify that i am not Steve in disguise or anything like that. I do have to agree somewhat with Steve though. This site has become more of a "bashers parody-site" so far I have seen. I know that Chucky do not accept personal attack parodies, but isn't attacking religious groups or personal beliefs actually a personal attack? I am not a JW myself, but i do know some. As a matter of fact a relative of mine is a JW and I do respect their beliefs, as any others. I think they're very peaceful people and they certainly seem to know what they're talking about, actually better than many priests i have hearing while attending church in my own community. So folks don't get to harsh on Steve, He probably wasn't against Mr. Hall in person at all, maybe he felt upset and felt jumped on for his own personal reasons (maybe beliefs). I think there is more than meets the eye here.

Name Witheld: Steve is entitled to his opinion and whatever way he wants to vote. What I object to is his calling for the parody to be taken down. He doesn't have to visit the site, he doesn't have to read a parody that he disagrees with - these are choices he can make. However, by censoring or removing a parody, I am deprived of reading it - by somone else's choice. Placing restrictions on content defeats the whole purpose of parody and creative writing. Freedom of speech means all speech. And, if Steve is interested in stifling creativity, then I am interested in making sure he doesn't.

Hey Busted!, how do we know that you even write parody since you are using an alias? Only one who could easily know this for sure is someone with admin privs on the site who can view the IP you are sending from and possibly track you this way if you always use the same IP and/or same box. What you are saying here can only be confirmed by site admin or some cracking technique and I doubt that site admin would tell us anything about who did what, so it's a nice theory but I'm not convinced.

I think Tim is simply attacking the door-to-door approach of Jehovah's Witnesses (OK, and some doctrinal differences.)However, there are a lot of more religion-intolerant parodies, where if you insert the term Blacks or Jews, etc. in place of Christians, Muslims, Morman's or Jehovah's Witnesses - you'll find a lot more opposition to your message. Why is it so necessary to hurt others in order to find material for your parodies? It's no substitute for talent.

I have spoken several times to the JWs and they think that going to your door is the most personal approach they can have. Otherwise why not telemarket their religion and just call people up? But i do agree with you that picking on others (esp minorites) to throw out a parody can be lame and not very clever. BTW David, your parodies are very intelligently written and I always look for your stuff.

Thanks Moose, To be honest, I was looking for a way to give Tim the benefit of the doubt. In all honesty, I'm taken back by the simplistic behind-the-barn combination of religious and racial stereotyping, school boy sex inuendo, and overall lowbrow comedy I find here. I've said it before, this is a poor substitution for true humor. "Tee -ee -ee, I can say M*sterb*te, and sh*t, and b**bs...ooh, goody goody! My-my, ain't I a clever boy!" Isn't it about time we grew up, invest some thought in what we write, and compose parodies of high calibre, instead of continually wallowing in the mud?

Should clarify, previous comment wasn't entirely about Tim's parody, but an overall assessment of where we're heading on Am I Right. Tim generally writes very good, smiley face parodies, so it's upsetting to find this one among the gems.

They are very consciencious, hard working family-oriented people. And that comment on Hitler is historically inaccurate, Tim Hall should have checked his facts. They were visciously persecuted by the NAZI's and exterminated in their thousands. In fact, I remember seeing a documentary on British Television showing letters of strong protest sent to Hitler by their senior members, warning him that God's judgement was coming on him. The documentary concluded by saying that the Jehovah's Witnesses were the only christian religion in Germany to publicly make a stand against Hitler, while major Christian religions like Lutheran and Catholic were supporting him.
