Finland has lately experienced a wave of immigration from Russia. Many Russians have moved to Finland in search of jobs and higher wages. They usually are good workers, and this could be a story of one such immigrant.

Are the Russians learning to speak Finnish? Do they take jobs away from local workers by accepting sub-standard wages? Do they burden the healthcare and welfare systems? Is Russian immigration a significant political issue? I'm sure you are aware of the issue of Mexican immigration in the United States.

Patrick, the situation here is somewhat different. The Finnish agriculture is heavily mechanized, but unfortunately many of the farmers either have small families or are elderly. Since Finnish climate is harsh and the growth period of year is short, the Finnish agriculture is oriented more on farm animals and dairy, eggs, meat and poultry production than grain or fruits. As operation, maintenance and upkeep of farm equipment requires more specialized skills than, say, picking oranges or cotton, the wages are usually good. But the work is hard, and there is a shortage of domestic skilled farmhands. Many of the Russian immigrants have decent education and know some Finnish already before moving here. Many Russians come here to earn funds for their studies or other needs, but many also marry here and become naturalized citizens.
See, Patrick? Russian immigrants are educated, bilingual, skilled, eager to integrate white people. Why can't your brown-skinned, wetback spics be like that?
Susanna, by now, you know that as far as progressiveness is concerned, this site is dominated by inductive and capacitive reactance, reluctance, resistance, and impedance. There is very little admittance.
But, Steinmetz, I think there is enough capacitance and conductance to make a power-charged spoof every now and then - watt do you think?
Most Russian immigrants to the United States are white people. There are web sites and magazine ads for Russian women wanting to marry American men. Those who come here also speak English and are well educated. Mexicans are being pushed out of their war-torn country into a nation in economic decline. They work at a lot of heavy labor jobs that most natives can't or won't do. There are bilingual and Spanish-only newspapers in Kansas City. Spanish language churches, radio, and television. They undercut native businesses in price, and many distribute drugs. The police do not care.
