The Lyrics

Chuck actually gave me the idea for this song with a comment he made about a potential Amiright Idol topic.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls
Pop Goes The Ad, by Jeffrey Reuben

Loading up Netscape, making me frown
"Those student loans really got you down?"
Everybody it's the brand new fad, Pop goes the ad.

Some promote gambling, others push porn
Gives companies a way to toot their horn
Everybody it's the brand new fad, Pop goes the ad.

It goes something like this: (p-p-p-pop)

Tried a newspaper just the other night
Up comes Orbitz, says to take a flight
All these windows just make me sad, Pop goes the ad.

Web advertising everywhere it seems
Make some money on a popup screen
Now the net is just such a drag, Pop goes the ad.

Now a seasoned web spinner
If you click the clown, you're a big winner!
Wearing a hole in my new mouse pad, Pop goes the ad.

Earn your masters in just two years
Class on the web while you drink some beers
Now everyone can be a grad! Pop goes the ad.

And every time I wonder where the web went wrong
End up clicking with my mouse closing windows for far too long

And every time I wonder if the web is right
End up the ten thousandth visitor on some site

Do you want credit? Need a good rate?
How can you make your computer safe?
Everybody it's the brand new fad. Pop goes the ad.

Windows are popping right in your face
Wish telemarketers would take their place
Everybody it's the brand new fad. Pop goes the ad.

See?! You CAN write songs that don't have anything to do with random bodily functions and they're STILL really funny. =) Alas, as long as words like "pee" and "poop" make people laugh, there will always be an audience for them. =) Great job! I can really tell that you're really improving with every song! I'm impressed!

Thanks for your parody. There is nothing more irritating than web Pop-ups. I really dislike the ones the POP-UP Killer software, can't even eliminate them all. Pop -ups are a curse, Man, areal freak-in curse.

Accurate and humorous. It is amazing how often you qualify for some "great deal" by being the 10,000th visitor to a site that you really didn't visit.

What are popups? (This is about the only site I go to lately--thanks Chuck)As for the parody: very good. But you tell that wife of yours from me that "I've Got To Pee Now" is a GREAT song, dammit! (I have the same problem with my wife--like she's all mature and stuff. Poopyhead.)

Thanks for the comments. The most fun part of this parody was the research: surfing the web, looking for different popup ads. If a site didn't have a popup, I was disappointed, and didn't go back (until I finished the song)

"I Got To Pee Now" is like the greatest parody ever, next to "Free Parking" ;-) This one might not be able to get up to your personal pantheon, Jeff, but it's a welcome addition to this site :-)

I can't stand popup ads! They're so annoying! Anyway, nice job, you get a perfect score from me. :)

DKTOS, but I like the lyrics, and if you wrote it, I know the pacing is good too. 5-5-5

I do know the original song; I liked it; I vote 5-5-5.
