The Lyrics

Why do some people have to plaigarize other people's works? Hopefully this will make people think twice about plaigarizing!
How does it feel
To plaigarize a song
When you steal somebody's writing
And told us, it is yours
You thought you was so clever
You thought you get away
Tell us why you did it
Tell us now why you did it?
Those who write parodies
Work hard on their efforts
From midnight until the morning
They will not let you rip off
And we still find it so weird
To work out why you copy
But Im dead sure we will find out
Just why you plaigarize

(instrumental part)

I see a song thats been copied
I can, and shall relay
But if it wasn't for your madness
You'ed be a sorry banned person today
And you thought you was so clever
And you thought we were all geeks
Tell us why you did it
Tell us now why you did it?

Now I have the IP

I thought I gave you a warning
When I found a copied song
Tell us now how does it feel
when your IP's banned
(is banned, is banned, is banned)

Good message, indeed!

Don't know who's their specific inspirer, but nayone who's guilty as charged deserves'em, and more. Well done.
Jason - March 22, 2008 - Report this comment
Thanks Stan. I cannot comment why people plaigarize, they just do for some reason. But if you are caught, then i assume all respect for you is gone for good.
Stan again - March 22, 2008 - Report this comment
oops ... I meant to say "don't know who is these lyrics' specific inspirer, but ..." but I'm sure you understood what I meant.
Jason (again) - March 22, 2008 - Report this comment
Yea, I sort-of understand. I understand from the inthe00s board, a few serial plaigarists have indeed been banned via their IP addresses.
Susanna Viljanen - March 23, 2008 - Report this comment
In my opinion, if you borrow an idea or something another writer's song, the least thing you can do is to give kudos and credit to your inspirer. But outright plagiarism IMO is a sign of a lamer. 555, and those fives are original.

Thanks Susanna Viljanen.

5s for the parody and the fact that you did a New Order song. I'm still recovering from being told by an editor on a trivia site that I had to amend a quiz I did because it was "unreasonable" to expect people to know that "New Order" was a band name...! It's a trivia site for ****'s sake!

Lol thanks Peregrin!

Very nicely put...let this be a lesson to those who feel the need to rip off other people's stuff. 5/5/5

THANK YOU MR CRITIC! Where have you been? I hope that this parody does send out a strong message to the plagarists!
Agrimorfee - March 24, 2008 - Report this comment
Hmmm... wonder if the person this is directed to will even read it? Well done N.O. parody.
Jason - March 24, 2008 - Report this comment
Thanks Aggy. They will probably read it, but blatantly ignore it. Its not aimed at any particular person, its aimed at any current or would-be plagarist.
Serafina - March 26, 2008 - Report this comment
This one's really good!! I also absolutely hate it when people rip off other people's work, whether it be parodies, essays, articles, or any kind of written material. Your parody is well paced, and I'm giving it another perfect score. :)

Agreed with everyone...no one should ever claim someone else's credit. This is an excellent message, and the pacing is great. 5-5-5

5's Plagiarism is the worst thing a person can do on a lyric site of this nature--I mean it's not like we are making money or anything--I will never even understand why people steal other people's work, so nice job slamming it.
Jason - March 29, 2008 - Report this comment
Thanks BA Dave. I know what you mean.

(Amiright Idol) Hope you don't find me harsh here, Jason. There was pacing problems here and there. My best, biggest open advice to all parody writers is to count syllables of each line between a printed lyric sheet and your written work before submitting. I'm not saying you did or didn't, Jason, just mentioning it here
Also keep in mind that Amiright-centered parodies are indeed fun, but won't mean much to those outside of our little wacky community. Remember, though, I did enjoy this parody (see above). Good luck, Jason!

(AmIright Idol) Though I'm not as big on syllable counting, it is a good starter. My main criticism on this one Jason is some of the major grammatical problems in the beginning. Re-iterating Agri's comment, outside of AmIRight if I were to record this song for you--it probably wouldn't have broad appeal because of the topic. I love the OS choice though, and it is imperative that the OS be popular enough to have an audience, which this song did.
Red Ant - June 14, 2008 - Report this comment
(Idol) "Blue Monday" has little rhyming and a flexible meter; I didn't have any problems trying to sing this. The typo on "plagiarist:" could have been easily caught with spell check - the switching of verb tenses is something you ought to work on. "When you steal somebody's writing/And told us, it is yours" and the two lines that follow it have easily fixed syntax errors - easy enough that they should be fixed before submission, really. Although I know the story behind this parody, I can't say I found much humor in the write itself. I'd enjoy hearing a recording of it, but you have to ask yourself "how many people would get this if it were recorded?". You did good though by keeping this from being a site-specific parody.

Great job Jason! I found this parody not on AmIRight itself, but on Google while attempting to find out about plagiarism on this site, since I have seen at least two plagiarized OSs (albeit with a couple of words changed) in the past couple of months. One question: Was this parody about K.Y.L.E.? 5s.
