I've been watchin' this cartoon
There's an annoyance that I can't stand, it's true
Ev'ry couple, I find
Just sorta happen, that's right
There's no screentime on the buildup, and why?
One look and it's meant to be
They're so in love and other things so twee
What makes a well-written show
Is lettin' the romance grow
All natural-like and stuff, you know

Too quickly in love, they're fallin'
No development, that's just lame
Don't want it to hog the whole focus
But why are they in love? Explain

If I wrote this show, I wou-ould
Make these scenes not bu-ullcrap, but good
I'd make the characters say
Lines not insipid and lame
And they wouldn't use the l-word after one day
I'd make the audience fee-eel
The love these two feel for real
And when that's under my belt
I might just try somethin' else
Cha-allenge the heteronormativity

I don't know why I'm still watchin'
This asinine show ev'ry day
Because if I can only focus
On the romance, then that's a shame
Not that there is somethin' wrong with
Romance, if you're feelin' that way
But I prefer action and jokin'
They don't stand out here, that's not great
