The Lyrics

I love the original song it's so happy and upbeat - let's ruin it!...
I love mud, mud
It won't clean my whites
But I need to find piles
Some mud that's all mine
My mama said

You can't play in mud
No, it's murder to clean
Said mud don't come out easy
Even in washing machines
So don't play in mud
Cos mud irritates
Just play in your sand pit
And don't go making no mud cakes

How many mud stains
Must she stand
Before I find more mud
And I can live again
Right now that lovely thing
Must keep hanging on
When I feel that squelch
When mud's in my palm
I remember mama said

You can't play in mud
No, 'cause it's getting late
She said mud isn't really
What you need to make a mate
How long must I wait
Before I make mud cakes
And that lovely mud
Will cause my brand new shirt to stain

Now I can't stand
Living without mud
When that mud is in my hands
It feels so good
When mum says that I
I can't go on
That filthy mud keeps me hanging on
I remember mama said

You can't play in mud
Disgusting worm bait
That shirt won't clean easy
When you've been making darn mud cakes
So you can't play in mud
You've dirtied all my plates
Just trust on your new friends
They'll show you nice games to play
And i'll break

Now mud mud
It makes mum queasy
But i'll keep on playing
Until she's breaking
And that soft voice
Will soon turn sharp
And that smiling face
Will soon turn dark

But i'll keep playing
Until that day
Makes her uneasy
You know she feels queasy
My mama says

Just go play in mud
Oh, your clothes are all caked
She says mud is all greasy
But it's a thing of love and hate
You'll play in the mud
But you'll just have to wait
I'll do no more washing
Not until you're through this phase
(Fade)

So, you've started writing dirty songs, huh? Hilarious!

Thank you, all! It seems that my 80s parodies are proving quite successful (first with yesterday's Queen parody, now this!). More may be on the way...

I don't know the song, but this was pretty good. Did your mum really call you ''Disgusting worm bait''? How sweet

DNKOS, but you're on the right track doing parodies of more famous songs. It's like the famous question, "If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around, does it make a sound?" You might write the greatest rhyming, word-for-word parody in the history of mankind, but if nobody recognizes the original song, does it matter? Not if they don't read it, which they probably won't if they DKTOS. I know a lot of writers here, great ones, who use Rolling Stone's TOP 500 All Time Songs, or Billboard's TOP 500 All time songs, as their source material. And though the majority of these songs are older, they ARE the most recognized songs in history, and parodies of these older songs will get more response than parodies of newer songs will. But don't quit writing (to the newer songs). Someday they might be just as recognizable as the older stuff is today.

Gratz on this DAK. Dee Range nailed it, song choice is imperative, and most KTOS ( and I would say even Phil Collins haters like it ). 555 for playing in the mud. Little inspiration from my parody Long Gone Days perhaps?

Alyssa - If I had a penny for everytime she called me that.......... i'd have a penny! Dee - Thanks for the advice. Don't worry i'm not giving up writing newer songs just yet. i just thought i'd try out some of the more famous songs from the 80s as a sort of experiment. it seems to be paying off coz the responses i'm getting are really quite incredible! There'll be a few more 80s songs from now on, but i will still be submitting more recent parodies! : ) Red Ant - A little....

Well done, DAK...even Red Ant KTOS, so you're on a winner. 555

Thank you, Kristof again again again. Maybe this 'doing 80s parodies' thing isn't so bad... it's certainly getting a lot of positive reactions! I think this is now probably my most successful parody to date! A big thank you to all who voted!!!
