In 2001, Super Smash Bros. Melee was released on the Gamecube, and Pichu was included among the playable characters. His gimmick was that he damaged himself when using electric-based attacks. Many considered him to be a joke, and he was ranked very low on tier lists. I never believed that he was strictly a joke character however, I thought he was a whole-hearted attempt to represent G2 of Pokemon. Pichu was cut from Super Smash Bros, Brawl, and SSB for 3DS/Wii U, but in a stunning turn of events, every character ever is returning in the Nintendo Switch installment, SSB Ultimate, including Pichu. This Phil Collins parody is sung from Pichu's point of view.
