Parody Song Title:

"Grosvenor!"

Parody Written by:

Old Man Ribber

The Lyrics

As I am a (relative) newbie on amiright, I've not seen nearly enough tributes to the man who makes it all possible. We need to do more songs about our hero Charles R. Grosvenor Jr.! Without his superlative efforts, most of us would be using our "talents" only (1) to annoy spouses/families/co-workers, (2) to get cheap laughs at gigs and karaoke, or (3) to be unmitigated pains in the *ss in general. Most of all, we'd have never known each other and formed a true community (even if it's often The Village Of The Damned). I urge every one of us to pen a tribute to Chucky, and I'll obey those three words that have gotten me into more trouble than anybody can imagine - "I'll go first!". ;D

(Eerie music, then the familiar riff)

Oh he runs a site - that's called amiright.
Brother, who's the man? Grosvenor!
For he prints our stuff - we can't get enough.
(Who's) here since it began? Grosvenor!

He ain't afraid of our post!
He is a heck of a host!

He has lots of class. He's from Auburn, Mass.
Who has got the plan? Grosvenor!
He's a family dude - so this won't be rude.
Who's the guy who can? Grosvenor!

He ain't afraid of our post!
Of his good work - we will boast!

Who has such elan? Grosvenor!
For they call him Chuck and it's our good luck
To know - Grosvenor!

He ain't afraid of our post!
He gives each one his due!
He ain't afraid of our post!
Him, her, me, you!

Of whom are we a fan? Grosvenor!
He works overtime - just to print our rhyme!
Who's Superman? Grosvenor!

(Instrumental interlude)

When we write and after -
Chucky shares our laughter.

He ain't afraid out our postt!
Without him, we would be toast!

We owe him so much, it's true!
Grosvenor!
'Though our songs often stink - he'll give us lots of ink!
Who's headman of our clan? Grosvenor!
Yay!

Who'll we never pan? Grosvenor!

(Fade out)

Purists - Yes, I have one extra syllable in line 4. The rest follows the original song exactly! Anyway...He's thirty-eight - and we think he's great! What's that fellow called? Grosvenor! ;D

Nice idea for a tribute but I won't follow (I'll go first are famous last words) because I think he'd more appreciate help with the site (I'm the one who wrote the FAQ five years back, that was my tribute), for one the SOTM winner's list is an orphan since about a year and could use a new caretaker...

Peter - Understood and thanks. You can say with all honesty that you "gave at the office." ;D

Seconded on AFW's opinion it sickens me as Chucky is such an amazing person, and so personable. . .555 from me, OS is fun and quirky

Hey man, this is good!

It is always wise to pander to Chucky -- almost as wise as it is to pander to Arwen. He is a man with no flaws. Well, one, but it doesn't matter this year, because the Red Sox are out of the race. Other than that, Chucky is wise and generous and we should all be glad to see tribute parodies for him. Except... isn't the name usually pronounced "GROVE-nor," rather than "GROHS-ven-orr"? Or am I just confused because his hometown is pronounced "WUSS-ter" instead of "WOOR-cess-ter"? (Which means turning "Ghostbusters" into "Worcester" wouldn't work, either!)

OMG! If Michael is right (and he is on very many occasions) then is my face red! I don't enjoy being one bombed, but to do it on a song about Chucky is just plain WRONG! ;D

Nicely done! Seems there are manifold tribute'AIRys feeding the mighty Old Man Rivber!

Ribber, an amazing tribute to the man himself, I salute to Chucky G...and to you, too! Grosvenor brings us together with this site, not only to express our parody talents, but to make some friends as well. You're absolutely right that there should be more tributes for Chuck since he created this site. I'm thinking of writing a parody tribute about him myself. Keep it up, OMR! Honoring 5's for this one!

Great job, but what's this "who's on first" stuff? You even v/c'd FG/TT trib,
http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/thebeatles2565.shtml
, at which someone else pointed out two others that had been done before. Quite deserved, of course.

Hope that MP isn't right about the name, because TT used it to rhyme with "(E-)ros' pen or...." in "Gee, Webmaster Chucky" (Gee, Officer Krupke from West Side Story), and nobody complained -- including The Man himself. Maybe just being polite.

There was, I think a ski run named Gros Ventre - can't remember the name of the resort; can't remember my own name sometimes --- and in French, which I DK, it's pronounced "Groh Van", I think; But a lot of peeps Anglicize their names, so .... maybe we each should have asked him directly before writing? 555 regardless.

TT - Inelegant phrase on my part. I meant "I'll go first" in this new round of tributes. A manatee can never pass for the Turtle! ;D

Very good, and I forgive the butchering of Chucky G's last name for the sake of pacing. (I've always heard "Grosvenor" pronounced the way Pacholek said it). 5s.

I know I'm hardly around anymore, but am still well-liked, so are there any tributes to me planned? Please, no Dr Music, Linda Terhune, rob, mAximo, Fitu Petaia or Hamlinton IV tributes!

Andria: Good thing to let us know that you're still well-liked, or we might have forgotten! (LOL ;)

Since you asked, you''re one of many in a group tribuTTe *planned* for Friday, September 10th, so try to be there. Of course, these things are subject to change (as with the recent bout of missed updates) , but it will get posted one day, regardless. I'll try to remember to e-mail you if the date changes.

Nonetheless, you're still a manatee be reckoned with! :-D

You know (I hope) that I was being facetious, as usual. (It's gotten so bad that I have to add "seriously" to serious comments.) Great idea, for everyone with, say, 50-100+ song posts (indicator that you're hooked) to be required to do one to him who makes it possible. Perhaps a requirement to add to the "Big 7"?

ANY-way, those who haven't "paid their dues", get on it!

I don't think that this is a bad song at all. It was a very good idea! In fact with so many comments here already, why doesn't Chucky leave a comment here too, and let us all know what he thinks? I personally give it a 555! :-)

Eureaka!! This can be saved. Change Grosvenor to Chuck Grov-nor!! Now I can rest! ;D
