The Lyrics

The "you" I'm addressing in this song is NOT anybody on the site, nor any specific person the readers might know: it's the neo-Nazi types who claim to practice Asatru, hiding behind the Germanic gods as an excuse to spread hate and needless violence.
Ooh, problem's bigger
It's bigger than some
Admit, the Nazis
The lengths I go to
The distance that I keep
Oh no, you've said too much,
stir trouble up

That's you in the corner
Jackboots in the spotlight
Using my religion
Trying to spread hateful views
And I fight back, I have to do it
Oh no, you've said too much...
The lies you spread--enough!
I thought that I heard you ranting
I thought I heard words that sting
Don't think the gods ignore your lies

Hatred blisters
In every waking hour
Choosing your aggression
I try to keep an eye on you
Since you've hurt us, you blinded fools
Oh no, you've said too much,
stir trouble up

Consider this
Dissension and treachery
Consider this
Your Hitler brought down
to his knees, failed
What if all your fantasies
Come flailing aground?
Now you've said too much

I thought that I heard you ranting
I thought I heard words that sting
Don't think the gods ignore your lies

But that's your ugly scheme
That's your ugly scheme
That's you in the corner
Jackboots in the spotlight
Using my religion
Trying to spread hateful views
And I fight back, I have to do it
Oh no, you've said too much...
The lies you spread--enough!
I thought that I heard you ranting
I thought I heard words that sting
Don't think the gods ignore your lies

But that's your ugly scheme
Try, lie--you'll die
Asgard knows your scheme
Knows your scheme
Knows your scheme, scheme

5's, wow, heavy-duty stuff here, Ingeborg. I didn't realize that the Nazis attempted to wrap themselves in the mantle of Asatru and pervert it to their own sick and twisted purposes...yikes!

Hi, Ingeborg! This was a really good parody. But the original song is from the 90s, not the eighties.

very skilful, Ingeborg. This song is such a hard one to parody, and I liked "Using your religion" - very deft! - 555

I don't think your vote registered, Stuart--but I'm grateful for the comment in any case.

that was because I had to queue two miles to vote - it's been registered and counted now, Ingebord (despite the hanging chad)

Aoid's right; we released it in the year nineteen ninety-one. Good job on the parody; I like parodies of our music.

Sorry about the decade snafu; most lyric-sheet sites don't include that information, so I had to use the existing parodies of the same song on AIR as a guide. Seems a lot of folks misdated it before I did!

Ingeborg - Excellent job - and I second Johnny D's comments about the Asatru. 5's.

Yeah, the Nazi party has always claimed to receive inspiration from Asatru, since Hitler's time. He admired the operas of Richard Wagner, which were largely based on Asatru stories. GREAT parody, GREAT original song, and I wholeheartedly agree with your subject matter although I don't practice Asatru myself.
