The Lyrics

A parody tribute to the educational comic book 'Addicted to War' by Joel Andreas
It's been your trip, dear Uncle Sam
Ever since you began
In revolution you were born
But now you toot a different horn

The needless War of 1812
Communication would have shelved
With Mexico a fight you craved
The South saw land to put more slaves

Native Americans you moved to the west, oh yeah
Killing, breaking every treaty you signed, and more
You know, you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to war

Into the North and South you split
Afterwards, you didn't quit
Big business' thirst for blood and gain
Led you next to war with Spain
More land you gained, some colonies
Like Cuba and the Philippines
Then came more intervention fun
Before you entered World War One

To save democracy you said was your goal, oh yeah
For all the world but it was more like Big Oil
And the monopolies enabling your addiction to war

Might as well face it, you're addicted to war (4x)

(INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE)

So whether it was World War II
Or Vietnam, Korea too
Afghanistan, Iraq and things
Big business always pulled the strings

The military and industrial complex rules
So until the voters wake up and say 'no more'
You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to war

Might as well face it, you're addicted to war (ad infinitum, fading)
