The Lyrics

My recordings are at badave.com. This one hasn't been recorded yet, but I ended up really enjoying it so it probably will be. For the record. . .I parodied the full version that is just shy of 7 minutes long, not the radio edit that cuts out one verse, chorus and bridge. Here is a video of that version for pacing purposes.
I'm lost in Florida somewhere
Somewhere, somewhere
I need a compass right now
and somehow I'll get out of here 'fore noon

At first I was just cruising
Trying to get to my friend Ted
And I left behind the Map Quest sheet
That directed my drive

Next thing I see's the ocean
and the sun made a huge glare
Oh the signs say somewhere or another
Look it's a dead end

I'm lost in Texas somewhere
Beware, Beware
Straight ahead is a big bear
Should have took that clerk's advice

I drove through ten states somehow
Oh wow, lost now
Must finally get home somehow
but until then I think that I'm srewed

A cop that was off duty
Thought he'd be a big A-hole
Pointed me the wrong way because he thought it'd be kinda neat

Now my car has started shaking
No one speaks en anglais
All the locals joking
Pointing right at me

I'm lost in Brazil somewhere
Oh dear, Oh dear
This trip is now a nightmare
Told to watch my tone of voice

Some street troll took my watch now
Lost now, Lost now
I must get back home somehow
And then I will bid this country adieu

You see I'm lost in Brazil somewhere

Oh Jeese I'm lost in Brazil somewhere

You see I must find my home somehow

Oh Jeese I gotta get home somehow

Later that September
Met a guy that had no clue
He knew that I was in a bind
He said he'd help me flee

And so I had got encouraged
Got on the boat, said good bye
Went to sea and heaved-ho
'Till I came ashore late one night

I'm lost in London somewhere
I swear, I swear
How the hell did I get here
People think I'm here by choice

I'll find the airport somehow
Somehow, somehow
I must get to my home town
Oh right now I could use better news

You would never guess what happened
When I stepped out on the pier
A ship said it's returning
To New York this afternoon

You might have thought it's ending
but we got hit in the rear
A helicopter fetched me
And took me to Baton Rouge

I'm lost in Orleans somewhere
Beads here, Beads there
I think I'll stay here now dear
In fact I think it's now by choice

I'll live life like a nomad
Nomad, Nomad
I'll make it through life somehow
And someday I'll get lost again, it's true

(Artistry) I think I've got a new rule: any song that I can't make it through, the parody gets automatic 5s. This was a hell of a lot better than TOS. Liked the whole London verse, and lol on "Went to sea and heaved-ho" which I read as "Went to sea and heaved-hos" (sometimes reader error goes in your favor) . =)

Red Ant: I can hardly wait for those 5s! :)
Dave, very clever writing, I'm glad you took my advice on this comp.--you made a song that approximates 40 lashes with a wet noodle into a giggle-worthy travelogue.

(Artistry) Absolute 100% brilliant. As soon as you figure out where in the heck you are, I'll send you some 555's.

(art) crikey, when you get lost Dave, you do it in style - from Florida to Texas to a bear to Brazil to London, I'd hate to think of the bizarre places you edited out that fell in between - lol - 555
